NBA - 803 Orlando Magic @ 804 Sacramento Kings
Projected line: 198 points
***DOUBLE DIME PLAY***
Sacramento's new head coach Keith Smith has already said that he intends to have the Kings run more, which ideally would combine with better spacing to create scoring opportunities. Smart said the Kings did a good job of pushing the tempo in the fourth quarter against Milwaukee, when they scored 35 points, including 18 in the paint: "If you're running the floor … it makes a half-court defense that much more open," said forward John Salmons. "Teams are worrying about transition, and if you get up the floor fast and spread the court, you can get easier lanes to the basket."
With Chuck Hayes out three to four weeks with a dislocated left shoulder, coach Smart said that he will likely start either J.J. Hickson or Jason Thompson at power forward depending on the matchup on a given night, which basically says that they will have zero interior defense! “Everyone wants to run,” Smart said. “But I’ve been given the opportunity to know how to train a team to be a running team. And you do it within your practice concepts and within the basketball where it’s not line drills and suicide drills…but (rather) trying to get them into a habit.”!
Basically, what this all means is that Orlando won't have a single problem in scoring inside tonight, as Sacramento is allowing 75% FG at the rim this season and now against Dwight Howard, this will be a massacre! However, it's quite obvious that the Kings will double team Howard, so there will be a lot of open space on the outside, which will favor the shooters of Orlando.
On the other side, Sacramento's will try to put on the floor their new gameplan. They will obviously have some problems on the inside against Howard, but Tyreke Evans and Marcus Thornton are very quick and Orlando's slow footed guards will be exposed on a fast paced team! I believe this will be a fast paced game, with Orlando having a huge offensive night due to the mismatch on the interior and the open shots that their perimeter shooters will have tonight, while Sacramento's quick guards will also be able to score their points. Therefore, I came up with a projection with 198 points, which looking at the current line, gives us enough edge to take the over in here on a Double Dime Play!
