Projected line: 209 points | Denver by 4 points
The
Wizards have been playing some of their best basketball this season
lately by using a quicker lineup featuring John Wall at point guard,
Jordan Crawford at shooting guard and Nick Young as a small forward. On
their home win against the Thunder, coach Flip Saunders used these three
players down the stretch and they all contributed to the team's second
win of the season.
“We’ve gone
small a lot,” Saunders said. “We’ve played Nick and Jordan and John
together, and those guys have all been very effective playing together
in the fourth quarter.”
It's obvious that Washington will continue to play at a fast pace, as they are now finally being competitive! On their last four games, the fast break points scored and allowed by the Wizards have been huge: 13/32, 20/21, 37/23 and 23/20! Against Oklahoma City, they made an effort to shoot near the basket, with 16-23 FG at the rim and of course, 11-16 FG on transition plays! They were also super aggressive with 31-43 FT! They will try to do exactly the same tonight against Denver and they won't have problems in that, as Denver is coming from a huge road win in Philadelphia and they will have an easy win mindset, just rolling with whatever style the Wizards will try to use today.
Considering the fast pace this game will surely have, the offensive improvements of the Wizards lately and Denver's offense, which continues to be one of the best in the league, I came up with a projected line of 209 points for this contest, good enough for me to take the over in here. Considering Washington's recent improvements, I believe they can hang with the Nuggets tonight and so, I'll take them in here as well.
