MLB Pick #1: 909 New York Mets @ 910 Los Angeles Dodgers

Detailed Write Up:

I think we have some value w/ NYM as long as they are listed as underdogs in this contest.

This is an emotional spot for NYM’s SP Bartolo Colon who will head to the Dominican Republic following the game for his mother’s funeral. Colon has been pretty decent for quite some time w/ his only bad performance being vs. SF. A game that I remember pretty well because we faded him after his 121-pitches performance in the previous outing – a clear letdown spot for him! He is “rested” for today and this current LAD roster doesn’t have many AB’s against him, actually, the last time he has faced LAD was in…2006!

On the other end, LAD’s SP Kevin Correia enjoyed a nice debut w/ LAD uniform @ATL but he then failed to deliver a quality outing vs. SD at home by allowing 4 ER’s in just 5 IP’s. This is what we will get from Correia! I don’t think that he is going to hang around w/ Colon and therefore, I’m taking the Mets today.      

 

MLB Pick #2: 911 Miami Marlins @ 912 Colorado Rockies

Detailed Write Up:

Both teams are hitting well in this series and I don’t think that they will slow it down in today’s matchup.

MIA will send LHP Brad Hand to the mound and I expect him to struggle heavily in this bad matchup for him. COL offense is elite vs. LHP’s this season by being ranked #7. Hand has a poor .260 BA & 4.87 K/9 to show in this season, and this combination could be deadly for him @ Coors Field against COL!

On the other end, COL will send Christian Bergman to the mound. He has 3 starts on his belt in this season but he broke a bone near his thumb in late June and spent some time in the DL. He returned lately to action while making some rehab stuff in the minor. However things didn’t went that well as he pitched 26 1/3 innings and recorded a 4.79 ERA while yielding 31 hits! Bottom line, I don’t trust him!

MIA offense has been pretty good lately – I have them ranked #6 in L14 days & #4 in the L7 days, so I expect them to do some damage as well!

MLB Pick #3: 913 San Diego Padres @ 914 Arizona Diamondbacks

Detailed Write Up:

SD’s SP Ian Kennedy had a letdown on his last start vs. LAD by allowing 5 ER’s in 5 innings but I think that it was an isolated bad game. After all, he had a respectable 2.33 FIP & 4.08 xFIP so we can say that he had some “bad luck” w/ balls in play. Otherwise, he has been pretty decent lately w/ a nice 3.09 FIP + 3.63 xFIP numbers in this month (4 starts). I expect him to bounce back in here against his former team.

On the other end, Chase Anderson had finally a bad game as he was pounded by WAS on his last start by allowing 6 ER’s in just 2 IP’s. Obviously, we had a play w/ WAS RL-1.5 for an easy winner. Still his numbers are a bit overrated w/ 3.71 ERA vs. 4.31 FIP mark! SD has lost the first two games of the series and they are looking to avoid being swept. It was a bit strange for me their complete offensive inability on the first two contests of the series (just 1 & 2 runs scored) because they have been one of the best offensive teams in the league in this second half of season! I expect them to bounce back today as well!
