NBA - 813 Houston Rockets @ 814 Oklahoma City Thunder
Projected line: 202 points | Oklahoma City by 12 points
This is the first time OKC had 2 days off to rest this season and therefore, they are now on a good physical spot after being completely with no legs on their last two games that were back to back games at Dallas and then at home against Portland! After two clear losses, this is a clear bounce back spot for the Thunder. They will be facing the Rockets, who may have to play tonight without their best player right now, PG Kyle Lowly. “He stepped on my foot and just twisted it really bad,” said Lowry, following this morning’s shootaround. “It’s a little sore today and a little bit swollen.” If Lowry is unable to go, that would move Goran Dragic into the starting lineup for tonight’s game, giving him the responsibility of matching up with Oklahoma City’s Russell Westbrook. Even if Lowry plays, he will be banged up and so, Westbrook will have a huge matchup edge tonight, even though his early season struggles have been well-documented. Kevin Durant will also have a matchup huge edge over Chase Buddinger, giving OKC two clear edges for tonight on their two most important players of their system!
Not only the Thunder are primed for a bounce back tonight, as Houston is a great matchup for them. The Rockets are a team that don't force a lot of turnovers (just 12.52% opp TO/rate) and they aren't aggressive enough to go to the FT line often. Their perimeter defense is pathetic by allowing 52% FG from 15-23 and so, it will be quite easy for OKC to score tonight. The question will be their defense, but with OKC primed for a bounce back and with HOU just shooting 21% of their shots from the rim, the Thunder will concentrate on the perimeter and they will surely do a good job in handling the Rockets outside shooting. Considering all the edges that OKC has over HOU and the Thunder's good spot for this contest, I believe OKC is primed for a blowout win and therefore, I'll take them in here. I'll also be taking the under in here, as Houston should struggle with Lowry banged up and with their outside shooting under continuous pressure.
