NBA Premium Play 01/04: Houston Rockets @ Los Angeles Clippers

NBA - 723 Houston Rockets @ 724 Los Angeles Clippers

Projected line: 197 points | LA Clippers by 4 points

Even though this is officially a back to back game, this isn't a classic back to back for Houston, as they will play in the same building they played last night. Yesterday, Martin played 40 minutes, Lowry 39 minutes and Scola 37 minutes. Considering both Lowry and Scola have good stamina, I believe they will be okay for tonight. Yesterday, the Rockets played a good match against the Lakers where they were quite good from the outside. Their offense wasn't as productive as they could have been thanks to their lack of free throw attempts and a bad night from Martin. The Rockets offense is one of the most well balanced offenses in the league and this will surely cause some problems to the bad help defense of the Clippers. Take a look at their shot locs%:

%Rim    %Short    %Mid    %Long    %3P
21.4%    15.5%    9.3%    22.6%    31.1%

It's evident that the Clippers have been having problems in stopping the perimeter game of their opponents, as they have been allowing 45% FG from 3-9 feet, 52% FG from 10-15 feet and 40% FG from 16-23 feet! Actually, when they played at San Antonio, against a team with good ball movement, they were clearly exposed defensively and Houston is really one of the best teams in the league in terms of ball movement: ranked #3 with an assist rate of 23.05%! I believe Jordan will guard Scola and the Argentinian player has every tricky shot in the book and will try to get Jordan to bite on pump fakes and other sleight of hand!

On the other side, the Clippers offense isn't as consistent as the Rockets on the outside. They are excellent in P&R Ball Handler with 0.93 PPP (#3 in the league), as they were supposed with CP3 on the team. The Clippers are also very good on ISO plays with 1.02 PPP, being the best team in the league in this kind of plays. However their outside shooting is just too inconsistent.

I believe the Rockets will make this match really close, with their well balanced offense, so I'll be taking them in here. However, this is still a back to back game for the Rockets and considering this and the Clippers' problems in the outside shooting, I'll also be taking the under in here, as the line is too high in my opinion, as I came up with a projection of just 197 points for this contest. Therefore, I'll be taking both the Rockets and the under in here.

Pick: 3 units (Single Dime Play) on 723/724 Under 201,5 @ -110 / 1.91 on 5Dimes
Pick: 3 units (Single Dime Play) on 723 Houston Rockets (+7,5) @ -110 / 1.91 on 5Dimes
