Soccer World Cup Play 06/19: England vs. Uruguay

Soccer World Cup Play: England vs. Uruguay

***TRIPLE DIME PLAY***

Usually the English side is one of the most overrated teams in the last major tournaments and they have always high expectations just to fail to impress in every single one. On my preview of their first game vs. Italy I’ve said:

“England has been a major disappointment in the last tournaments while their expectations are always high. However, this isn’t happening for this World Cup! Usually, their players are exhausted going for this type of tournaments as the English Premier League is brutal physically and demands a ton of energy. The good news for them is that their team is young and his NT coach is tempting to use 5 Liverpool players who didn’t play any game in the European competitions, so they will be relatively “fresh” for this WC and they can surprise everyone.”

Despite losing that game 1-2, I think that England played quite well. Their immature and lack of cynical finishing ability was the main culprit of the loss, as Italy showed more maturity and experience as a team.

Their frontline was dynamic and created some good chances to score w/ Raheem Sterling putting on a show while being England’s best player.

As strange as might sound, I really think that Uruguay is vastly overrated for this Tournament. They are still getting some respect of their 4th place spot in the last World Cup and winning the Copa America edition on the following year, but since then, it has been a major downfall…

In their first game of the tournament, I had the intention to fade them, but decided to not pull the trigger:

“The potential problem is that Luis Suarez is coming from an injury and he might be far from being @ 100%. Uruguay doesn’t have much talent on their midfield, so they need badly Suarez to create open-plays for them.

My leans for this contest are Costa Rica & Under. I would love to grab an AH (+1.5) line but this won’t happen for sure as I expect Uruguay to have some problems to create chances and therefore, my lean w/ Under makes sense as well IMO.”

Their defensive line in that game looked extremely slow and struggled massively against Costa Rica’s forwards… it’s not that hard to imagine that they’ll have major problems today vs. Wellbeck, Sterling and Sturridge – all these three players are incredibly fast and dangerous coming from the wings.

Uruguay doesn’t have much talent on their midfield unit – their players have a phenomenal work-rate and work well defensively, but are limited offensively which puts some tremendous pressure on their frontline to generate offense. The problem is that Forlan has declined heavily in the last few years and more importantly, Luis Suarez isn’t @ 100%. His availability is still uncertain for this contest.

I expect England to play w/ some nice tempo and explore the Uruguayans’s lack of speed all around the field, especially on their defensive line. My fair line for this contest is England ML @ -110/-120, so we have a great edge w/ them = TRIPLE DIME PLAY!

Pick: 5 units (Triple Dime Play) on England ML @ +118 / 2.18 on 5 Dimes
