Soccer World Cup Play 06/17: Russia vs. Korea Republic

Soccer World Cup Play: Russia vs. Korea Republic

***DOUBLE DIME PLAY***

Yesterday, in my Top Play w/ Under in the game between Iran and Nigeria I’ve said: “In an exciting World Cup w/ some great offensive minded football, this contest could be painful to watch…”

Well, we can consider this contest to be Part II of the sentence…

Russia is coached by coaching legend Fabio Capello who is a tactician master… His teams are always well organized especially on the defensive end, and this Russian team is no exception! In their qualification group, Russian has allowed only 5 goals in 10 games!

Usually, Russia has some problems on attack as they don’t have many offensive skillful players. Bad news happened just before the World Cup w/ their best player Roman Shirokov who is out of the competition due to injury! His absence is tremendous for this team, not only because he really is their best player (playmaker), but also because Capello doesn’t have a capable backup player to replace Shirokov.

I expect Russia to have some problems in building open-plays against conservative defensive minded teams…. The bad news of them is that Korea will naturally laid back on the field and give the control of the game to the Russians.

Korea usually plays w/ good tempo and they have some good wingers – the star of this team is Heung-Min Son who plays for German side Bayer Leverkusen. However, they lack a good striker and obviously, they are a chronic poor team finishing plays. They’ve played two friendly games just before the WC and not surprisingly, they couldn’t score a single goal in those two games!

My fair totals line for this contest is a pure 2-goals line and therefore, we have some good value to make a play w/ UNDER in here.
