Soccer World Cup Play 06/18: Chile vs. Spain

Soccer World Cup Play: Chile vs. Spain

This is by far the best game of the day but unfortunately, it is so damn unpredictable IMO.

Going Spain -1 in here is just out of question as simply, there isn’t any value in taking the Spanish team as such big favorite. Spain got spanked in the first game vs. Netherlands showing some awful defensive coverage and more importantly, they simply didn’t have the proper speed to hang around w/ the Dutch. That’s the problem in playing w/ Busquets, Xabi Alonso and Xavi – you have three great passers and “control management” players but you don’t have any kind of physical burst w/ these three players. It looks like Spanish NT coach decided to bench Xavi so that’s good news for them. Pedro Rodriguez will start on the front and he has been their best forward in the last years. He also benched Piqué who looked awful in the last game, so we can expect Spain to have better conditions to be competitive today.

Why I’m not taking Chile then? Well, I’ve won my first Triple Dime Play of the tournament w/ them against Australia but I really didn’t like the way they defended in the second half. Too much immaturity and some bad positioning… it was enough to defeat an inferior level team, but against top notch competition, this could be a huge problem for them.

My strongest lean in here is Both Teams to score…. Spain just can’t be happy to simply control the game and manage to score one goal and protect the lead, they have to be more proactive, taking more risks and naturally, I expect them to be exposed against the quick – fast paced Chilean forwards especially by Alexis Sanchez.

W/ Pedro Rodriguez on the field, Spain gains more verticality on their attacking game…after seeing Chile allowing so many chances against Australia in their last game, I expect Spain to score at least one in here.

Pick: 3 units (Single Dime Play) on Both Teams to Score a Goal @ -137 / 1.73 on Pinnacle Sports (OR -140 / 1.71 on Betonline)
