NBA Premium Play 03/18: Washington Wizards @ Memphis Grizzlies

NBA - 705 Washington Wizards @ 706 Memphis Grizzlies

Projected line: 203 points | Memphis by 16 points

Washington is coming from a loss in Atlanta, where they actually shot the same %FG than the Hawks, their problem was the 22 turnovers they committed that originated 37 points in favor of Atlanta! In fact, 20% of the offensive production from the Hawks came from transition plays with 30 fast break points, as they shot 11-16 FG in transition. Still, Atlanta didn't pound the inside, as they were an outside team with 12-27 3pts! Washington struggled on P&R's, which is normal that they don't have good big players that can make good picks and especially they don't trick anybody with their lack of skills of their roll man!

“Defensively, we made a stand,” Drew said. “I came in at halftime and that team was shooting over 50 percent against us in the first half. I just told the guys that was ridiculous. … I knew we could be a better defensive team than what we were showing. We just had to make up our mind to go out and guard people and not rely on help. That third quarter we made a strong stand defensively!" - This was why Washington scored just 11 points during the 3rd quarter! Big defensive effort from the Hawks!

Today against Memphis, I expect the Wizards to have tons of problems, as they will use once again a lot of inexperienced players on court for big minutes, which will make them turnover prone against the best defense in the league in terms of making pressure and causing turnovers: field day for Memphis and their steals! Therefore, the Grizzlies should end this game with a lot of fast break points. Besides that, Washington is allowing 68% FG at the rim since the All Star break, so the Grizzlies with Gasol and Randolph will completely pound the poor interior defense of Washington. On the other hand, Memphis had a tough game against Toronto, who has one of the best rim defenses in the league, but their biggest problem was indeed their terrible free throw shooting, as they went 31-51 from the FT line!

I expect Memphis to absolutely crush the Wizards terrible defense on this game and have a huge offensive game today. They will have a lot of edges, especially in terms of fast break points due to their steals and a clear mismatch down low. Therefore, I expect the Grizzlies to have a bounce back in here after their home loss against Toronto and completely blow out the Wizards. So, I'll take Memphis in here. Considering the Grizzlies' field day on offense and the fact that the Wizards will always score their points on their fast transitions with Wall, I'll be also taking the Over on this contest.
