NBA Premium Play 03/17: Toronto Raptors @ Charlotte Bobcats

NBA - 503 Toronto Raptors @ 504 Charlotte Bobcats

Projected line: 180 points | Charlotte by 2 points

***DOUBLE DIME PLAY***

We are in front of a bad team on bad spot on this game, who has to play a back to back game on the road, after a win in the previous night on overtime in Memphis. Toronto will also be playing their 4th game in 5 days, so this is really a bad spot for them. In their yesterday's win against Memphis, three players had major minutes: Bargnani with 39 minutes (on a terrible 4-17 FG night), Bayless with 44 minutes and DeRozan with also 44 minutes. Toronto was completely dominated on the boards and on free throws, but Memphis had little effectiveness on free throw shooting with 31-51 FT! Without Calderon, the Raptors struggled by committing turnovers and Memphis created pressure to force 22 turnovers and score 22 points off them plus 6-9 FG in transition. On offense, the Raptors refused to run by scoring 0 fast break points and shooting 0-3 FG in transition! Toronto was competitive because they had an unusual good outside shooting game with 11-28 FG from 16-23 feet and 7-15 3pts! They had little volume on the inside, but defensively they left Memphis with 19-32 FG at the rim, not bad for the Raptors defense, as Zach Randolph came back yesterday already on a beast mode with 8-11 FG at the rim!

After the game, the problems got just bigger for the Raptors, as they weren't given clearance to fly and they had to stay the night in Memphis and leave just in the morning for Charlotte. So, Toronto will be a tired team today, with no interior game and no scoring punch coming from the bench, so I expect them to have a bad offensive game tonight, as we've seen at New Jersey on their last back to back spot, where they had just an offensive rate of 95!

On the other hand, Charlotte is coming from a road trip where they won at New Orleans and were somewhat competitive in Dallas. They had a very inconsistent shooting against the Mavs, as they shot 51% FG in the first half, just to shoot 31% FG in the second half. This was mostly due to the zone defense that Dallas used in the second half that made the Bobcats offense heavily struggle. Since they'll face a team coached by Dwayne Casey today, I expect Toronto to also use zone defense today and try to make the Bobcats offense struggle. As Toronto defends very well at the rim, there will be no easy points on this game, so we are talking about two jump shooting teams who will struggle tonight. So, I believe the teams with the fresher legs will get the upperhand on this contest. Note that Charlotte has already won at Toronto when they were a 7 points underdog and looking at Toronto's terrible spot for tonight, I expect the Bobcats to have a rare win today. Considering the problems I expect from both teams' offenses on this contest, I'll be also taking the Under in here on a Double Dime Play!
