My Under Play in the England vs Sweden game ended up looking like a terrible play because the game ended up with 5 goals, but in my opinion the game was far from being “a great game”.
My Under Play in the England vs Sweden game ended up looking like a terrible play because the game ended up with 5 goals, but in my opinion the game was far from being “a great game”.
The game had so many goals only due to the fact that both teams committed some terrible silly errors. England conceded two goals from set pieces by letting the Swedish player completely alone inside the box, while Sweden didn’t do much better by allowing Theo Walcott completely alone outside the box after a corner. In build up plays, both teams didn’t create many chances to score.
England will salute the return of Wayne Rooney today, but he can’t do miracles on the English offense. The lack of creativity is still there and England simply can’t hold enough the ball to create chances in build up plays. Ukraine needs to win today in order to advance, so England will happily sit back and make some counter moves using the speed of their forwards (probably Wellbeck and Rooney).
On the other side, Ukraine will have a tough time to score against this defensive approach from England unless of course if England repeats the same set pieces defensive mistakes of the last game. Looks like Andriy Shevchenko is "50/50" to play, but in my opinion he will play even though he’s not 100% fit. Shevchenko scored 2 goals against Sweden, but his lack of mobility will make things easier for England’s defense. Like England, Ukraine doesn’t have any creativity on the front: their left winger Konoplyanka keeps doing the same useless inside moves, while Voronin is far from being the playmaker that he was supposed to be for this team.
With both teams lacking creativity on the front this total line of 2.5 goals is already overrated in my opinion. We should be dealing with a 2-goals line, but due to the games of these two teams have so far averaged 2.5 and 3.5 goals, the oddmakers were forced to push up the line. So, I'll be taking the Under in here.
