NBA - 503 Miami Heat @ 504 Dallas Mavericks Projected line: 193 On my Miami Heat side play I’ve mentioned that the Mavericks will have some problems to stop the Heat dynamic duo of Wade and James because they don’t have Tyson Chandler and DeShawn Stevenson while their replacements for this season (Haywood/Odom and Carter/Jones) are far from offering the same defensive help than the “original” players. In the offseason it was public that Heat’s head coach Erick Spoelstra was looking to install some new teaks on the Heat offensive system most notability pushing up the tempo early on the shot clock using some 4-1 geometric figures (I remember also some articles saying that Spoelstra was learning the basic principles of the Oregon Ducks CFB spread offense) so we can expect Miami to use some different offensive sets today. In any case, I don’t think that Dallas will be able to be so effective on the defensive end like they were in the NBA Finals. On all my projected scenarios, I see the Mavericks trailing, and in this case I don’t think that Brendon Haywood will get major minutes today. Instead, Carlisle will opt to play Lamar Odom and add him next to Dirk Nowitzki. Please note that the Mavericks are still a very good offensive team with a formidable ball movement and with Odom, they will make their points because not only Odom is way a better offensive player than Haywood but also because the Mavericks will be more athletic and will push the tempo up.
