New Orleans is coming from a loss against Memphis, where the Grizzlies had a rare good outside game with 5-10 FG from 16-23 feet and 8-17 3pts. The Hornets couldn't stop Memphis in transitions and they shot 8-10 FG on this kind of plays. The Grizzlies also crushed on the boards and the Hornets were only competitive due to their bench, with Jason Smith shooting 7-14 FG, Brian Roberts 6-10 FG and Austin Rivers 7-13 FG. New Orleans had a super volume on the outside with 7-23 FG from 16-23 feet and 8-16 3pts! Their game was super based on pick and rolls, but without a lot of efficiency.
They will now face the Heat, who were humiliated a home last Thursday against the Knicks. Lebron James has already mentioned that they won't forget this loss and that they have a lot of work to do. The good part is that the Hornets play at a similar style as the Knicks, with the clear difference of talent between these two teams. Therefore, Miami has a great shot to have a defensive bounce back tonight. New Orleans' offense struggles everytime Greivis Vasquez is pressured and Miami will come fired up today and pretty aggressive.
On the other side, the Hornets' defense is based on packing the paint and letting their opponents to shoot from the outside. That's why they are #29 on 3pts% allowed and #29 on spot up defense. But Miami has a great outside shooting team and they will crush the Hornets tonight. I expect a huge bounce back for Miami tonight and so, I'll be taking them in here. I'll be taking the Under tonight, as I expect Miami to completely shutdown the Hornets' offense.
