NBA Premium Play 12/14: Dallas Mavericks @ Toronto Raptors

NBA - 803 Dallas Mavericks @ 804 Toronto Raptors

Projected Line: Dallas by 2 points | 190 points

Toronto is coming from a home loss against Brooklyn, where they simply couldn't keep up with the Nets on the second half, mostly thanks to their injured players that made them have just eight available players! Jose Calderon made the Raptors an almost turnover-free team, while he was able to put the ball on the Raptors' frontcourt. The Nets won the game mostly to their outside shooting (10-19 3pts) and aggressiveness (35 FT attempts).

Dallas is coming from a double overtime loss at Boston, where they used a lot of small ball. The Mavericks were able to be competitive, while committing 28 turnovers that resulted in 34 points for Boston. Dallas shot 8-23 3pts, but they were able to dominate down low with 21-27 FG at the rim and 8-17 FG from 3-9 feet. Boston's defense struggled in stopping the dribble penetrations, while Dallas also shot 9-13 FG on transitions. Boston replied with a good mid-range shooting (17-34 FG from 16-23 feet), but with just 6-22 3pts and little volume on the inside made them struggle.

With Jose Calderon as their starting PG, Toronto clearly slows down their game pace and with Dallas coming from a double overtime game, where Shawn Marion played 45 minutes, O.J. Mayo 52 minutes, Darren Collison 37 minutes, Derek Fisher 36 minutes and Vince Carter 36 minutes, I doubt the Mavericks will try to play at a fast pace tonight. I don't know if Dallas will use small ball or not, but I don't think so, as Toronto will use Jonas Valanciunas, Ed Davis and Amir Johnson on their frontcourt and Jose Calderon won't have problems in putting the ball on their hands, so they can pound the Mavs' undersized frontcourt.

Jose Calderon won't be torched in here by Derek Fisher and with Toronto not committing a lot of turnovers, I expect Dallas to not have a lot of transition chances tonight. Dallas' offense has been carried by O.J. Mayo lately, but he isn't in a good spot for tonight, as he played 52 minutes at Boston. Dallas won the first game between the two teams on a terrible spot for Toronto, who was playing their fourth game in five days. I believe the pace of tonight's game will be slow and Toronto has a great chance for an upset tonight, so I'll be taking both Toronto and the Under in here.
