NBA - 809 Detroit Pistons @ 810 Brooklyn Nets
Projected Line: 193 points | Brooklyn by 5 points
Brook Lopez is probable for tonight, but according to coach Avery Johnson, if he plays tonight, he won't play more than 24 minutes. Detroit's defense has been horrible in stopping their opposing guards, especially when they penetrate and force the Pistons' frontcourt to rotate on defense. Jeremy Pargo had a big game against them, Jrue Holiday dominated them and even on their last game, Ty Lawson had a huge game. So, Deron Williams has a good chance to have a good game tonight. Detroit is #6 on cuts defense, but they are #30 on post up defense and #24 on pick and roll ball handler defense.
On the other hand, Detroit had 2 days of rest prior to this game and they will certainly keep having a lot of inside shots tonight against Brook Lopez. I doubt that Lopez will be able to defend well down low tonight, while Andray Blatche isn't a good defender. Brooklyn got completely outplayed by the Raptors' frontcourt on their last game and their rim defense has been struggling a lot lately. Detroit has been also improving their transition game a lot lately and the Nets have been struggling on their transition defense this season, as I remember that they allowed Golden State to score 24 fast break points against them for example.
Detroit is rested and they have been very competitive lately. They lost their last two games against the spread against Philadelphia (revenge spot for the Sixers) and Denver (bad spot for the Pistons), but they were competitive in those games. I believe Detroit will be a competitive underdog tonight and so, I'll be taking them in here. Considering the Nets' problems in defending the paint and the Pistons' problems in stopping the opposing guards, I expect this game to be a high scoring game and so, I'll be taking the Over in here as well.
