NBA - 701 Brooklyn Nets @ 702 Toronto Raptors
Projected Line: 183 points
The Nets are coming from a home loss against the Knicks last night, on a super slow pace, but with great offensive rates! Brooklyn explored the Knicks' interior defense problems by shooting 15-17 FG at the rim and 7-8 FG from 3-9 feet. They looked good on cuts and post ups, but they struggled on long range shooting. On the other hand, the Knicks ended the game with 10-20 FG on isolation plays plus 14-28 on 3pts shooting!
Brooklyn's starting backcourt played heavy minutes yesterday, with Gerald Wallace playing 43 minutes, Joe Johnson 40 minutes and Deron Williams 39 minutes. They will now play at Toronto to face a Raptors team that isn't a great spot neither. They had just one day off to rest after a disastrous road trip, where they got crushed at Portland on their last game. The Raptors have Amir Johnson suspended and Andrea Bargnani, Linas Kleiza, Kyle Lowry and Alan Anderson out for tonight's game as well due to injury. So, the Raptors' starting lineup tonight will be Jonas Valanciunas - Ed Davis - DeMar DeRozan - Mickael Pietrus - Jose Calderon. Besides the starting lineup, the Raptors will only have available at the bench Aaron Gray, John Lucas and Terrence Ross!
The Raptors' defense has been a disaster lately, with Andrea Bargnani not helping at all and also Kyle Lowry hasn't been defending as well as he was last season. In fact, Toronto is having better defensive numbers without these two players on the court! On the games that Toronto started Jose Calderon this season, the team's game pace was clearly lower than usual, with a half court style. With them facing the Nets tonight, who also play at a really slow pace, this will be a pure half court game.
Brooklyn won't have their three top players on a good spot against a poor Toronto's defense. On the other hand, Toronto's offense will struggle in creating easy shots down low. Brooklyn has been struggling in stopping transition plays against quick guards, but Toronto doesn't have any quick guard available for tonight. Therefore, I expect this slow paced game to be a really low scoring game, so I'll be taking the Under in here.
