Brooklyn will now face the Knicks tonight and they can be relaxed about their transition defense problems tonight, as the Knicks are dead last in the league in fast break points per game with just 8.6 ppg! The Knicks simply don't run and their great perimeter shooting is the result of a good ball movement and not quick transition plays. That's why the NY team is also last in the league in transition volume with just 8.71%. So, the Nets will have to be mostly focused on defense against the Knicks' great perimeter shooting. Brooklyn is #8 on pick and roll ball handler defense and #15 on spot ups defense, so their defensive problems are indeed mostly caused by their poor numbers on transition defense. The Knicks are on a poor spot for tonight, as they will play their fifth game in seven days, therefore I believe their tired legs won't allow them to have a good outside shooting game, leaving them on a tough offensive spot for tonight. On the other hand, Brooklyn has been using a lot of isolation plays, especially since Brook Lopez got injured, and with both Joe Johnson and Deron Williams struggling on their shooting, I also believe the Nets will struggle on offense tonight. Both teams generally play at a slow pace and the previous game between these two teams was the slowest game of the whole NBA season!
