NBA - 505 Milwaukee Bucks @ 506 New Orleans Hornets
Projected Line: Milwaukee by 1 point
The Hornets had no chances against Oklahoma City, as the Thunder were super smart on offense, while having enough weapons to stop the Hornets on defense. They put a lot of pressure on New Orleans' ball handler, especially on Greivis Vasquez and the result of that was the Hornets committing 15 turnovers. Vasquez shot just 2-8 FG and the Hornets had just 9 pick and roll ball handler plays! Their perimeter was well defended by Oklahoma City, with them just shooting 8-25 FG on spot up plays!
New Orleans had a players meeting after their loss against Oklahoma City and they will face the Bucks tonight, on a much better matchup for them. Milwaukee has a poor perimeter defense, so the Hornets' ball handlers will have a good matchup tonight. Greivis Vasquez is a good PG when he space to perform, as he is a good passer and a shooter, something that gives a whole new dimension to the Hornets' spot up game. Milwaukee is just #21 in the league in 3pts defense with 37.1% 3pts allowed, so the Hornets' perimeter should make some damage tonight.
Milwaukee is coming from a nice win against Boston, where they made a super comeback. However, they kept struggling on the outside shooting, especially with Beno Udrih injured and with Mike Dunleavy also banged up. These two players are the two best outside shooters of the team with Brandon Jennings, so it's normal that the Bucks are just #29 in the league in 3pts shooting with 30.0% 3pts! These are good news for the Hornets, who have been struggling on perimeter defense with 40.2% 3pts allowed.
Without this handicap, the Hornets will have a good gameplan for tonight. They played the Bucks lose at Milwaukee a couple of weeks ago and even though Anthony Davis scored 28 points in that game and he isn't playing tonight, the truth is that the Hornets were on a back to back spot plus it was also their third game in four nights, while Milwaukee had 3 days off to prepare that game! Coach Scott Skiles have been struggling with his team's lineups, something that causes a lot of continuity on Milwaukee's game, so I expect the Hornets to be competitive tonight. I'll be taking New Orleans plus the points in here.
