This is a very tough spot for the Knicks, as they will play their fourth game in five days, while being also on a back to back spot! They are coming from a physical game at Chicago, where the Knicks struggled on offense. Chicago put a lot of pressure on the ball handlers and the Knicks struggled with 6-27 FG on pick and roll ball handler plays and 5-20 FG on spot up plays! Without an inside game that could compensate these struggles, the Knicks struggled, even though the Bulls were on a poor physical spot!
Denver will have a physical edge in here and so, George Karl will try to speed up the pace of the game soon. The key in here will be efficiency of the Nuggets' offense. The Knicks are struggling on the frontcourt, as only Tyson Chandler can provide some help on defense. The Knicks are a poor team in protecting the rim, so Denver will have a clear edge down low. The Knicks is also just #29 on transition defense with 1.16 PPP and #24 on pick and roll ball handler defense, so the Nuggets will have a great offensive matchup tonight, especially with Raymond Felton being tired after a big effort over the last two games and now having to defend Ty Lawson!
The Nuggets are #2 on pick and roll ball handler defense and if Carmelo Anthony plays, Denver might try to play small ball, with Andre Iguodala defending Carmelo Anthony. Denver's problem on defense tonight will be on 3pts defense where they are just #27 with 39.1% 3pts allowed. I expect a high scoring contest in here, with the Nuggets being very competitive, therefore I'll be taking both the Nuggets and the Over in here.
