San Antonio has been probably the best WNBA team as of late (they are riding an 8-game winning streak for this contest) but unquestionably they are the best offensive team in the league right now. They are using some small ball lineups which is why they have been constantly outrebounded but offensively they display a great ball movement - #1 in A/TO ratio w/1.51 and all their players and unselfish and make the extra pass. Over the last 11 games, for just once the Silvers Stars didn’t reach the century mark in terms of offensive ratings and that game was their last game against Chicago. However note that it was their last game of the road trip and the game was played at 11:30AM local time so it was a bad spot for them to perform at their best. Nevertheless they won the game shooting above 40% FG.
Today they have a better spot against a Dream team that will push the pace against them. Looks like Atlanta’s best player Angel McCoughtry won’t play tonight but Atlanta quickly adjusted to her absence against Seattle. Atlanta defeated Seattle on the road 70-59 and even though Seattle is the slowest paced team in the league, Atlanta scored 15 fast break points. Seattle was undersized and Atlanta punished them by scoring 40 points in the paint. This Silver Star team is also undersized so I expect Atlanta to be aggressive in the same way tonight.
These two teams played each other early on the season and they combined to score just 117 points in an uncharacteristic game because both teams committed a total of 41 turnovers! I expect tonight’s contest to be fun game to watch while my totals line is set @ 158/160 points.
