This is a home-home back to back series between Washington and Connecticut. Yesterday, the Mystics were competitive, but they still lost by 70-77 against the Sun. The matchup between these two teams is basically a battle of tempo and pace. Connecticut wants to run while Washington is the second slowest team in the league. Yesterday, Washington won the battle as the game was the slowest paced game of the season for Connecticut with a pace rate of 69.05. The previous low mark for Connecticut was set against Seattle with 72.80!
The biggest reason for such low mark was the fact that Washington absolutely crushed the boards with a 15-3 offensive rebound edge and/or an incredible 66%-34% overall edge in rebounds! By crushing the glass, Washington kept possession after possession while keeping the game flow way too slow. Still, under these conditions, Connecticut hit 52% of their shots & dished 20 assists for a great 71.5% assist/rate mark, so no matter what the pace of the game will be, they won’t have any problem in scoring against Washington.
Connecticut plays faster at home (79.1) than on the road (75.7) and by giving them a similar offensive efficiency than yesterday, I have Connecticut scoring more than 83/85 points tonight. Since they changed their starting lineup, Washington has been more effective on offense, so it’s easy for me to say that we have some edge on the Over in this contest. Therefore, I'll be taking the Over in here tonight.
