Minnesota is coming from their second loss of the season, in a game where I expected them to play good defense but they had their single worst defensive performance of the season instead by allowing San Antonio to have an offensive rating of 125.4! Minnesota is the best defensive team in the league and their strength relies on having the best frontcourt of the league. They are allowing the fewest points in the paint with just 25.73 ppg and they are also 1st in %points allowed in the paint with 35.7%. Even against San Antonio, the Lynx did a good job in protecting the paint, however the Silver Stars was simply unstoppable from the outside with 13-25 3pts!
Minnesota will surely enter this game with the goal of defending better than they did in the previous game and the Sparks are a good matchup for them because unlike San Antonio, the LA Sparks aren’t a good perimeter jump shooting team and they need badly to score in the paint in order to be competitive. They average 36.88 ppg in the paint, right behind Minnesota, so the Lynx' defense that is built to stop the opposing frontcourts will have a good chance to make a defensive bounce back game today.
Also the Sparks are on a 4-game losing streak where their defense was the main culprit as they allowed +90 points in every loss! Like Minnesota, LA couldn’t stop the terrific inside-out game of the Silver Stars, while against Tulsa they weren’t ready for the fast pace of the Shock!
The combination of the last high scoring games from both teams forced the oddmakers to adjust the line and according to my line we should be dealing with a high 150’s pts line. Therefore, I'll take the Under in here in a Double Dime Play!
