MLB - 903 Houston Astros @ 904 Chicago Cubs
(Starting Pitchers: B. Norris vs J. Germano)
This is the final game of a 3-games series between two lowly teams who are desperately needing some wins. The Cubs easily won the first game, but Houston responded to that yesterday with a very easy 10-1 run. The Astros will start Norris today and he is coming from a good outing against Milwaukee, where he allowed three runs (two earned) on eight hits, while having seven strikeouts in just 7IP! Norris didn't walk anybody on that game, so this was also a good stat for someone who has struggling with his command this season. He had a terrible month of June with 6.81 FIP, but he started to bounce back in July by posting a 4.02 FIP and right now in August he has a 2.64 FIP!
The Cubs will start Germano and he is coming from giving up six runs (four earned) on seven hits in 5.2 IP against the Reds. He is mostly in the rotation because they don't have any options (I mean, even Volstad is still in the rotation!). Not that he has been terrible (3.60 ERA/3.10 FIP vs PIT and 3.38 ERA/2.53 FIP @LAD in the previous two outings), but he isn't certainly someone to trust while being a clear favorite, especially against someone like Norris who is now in a good moment.
I believe this should be a close contest and looking at the SP edge the Astros have on this contest, I believe they have a lot of value as the clear underdog on this contest. Therefore, I'll be taking Houston today.
