MLB - 965 Pittsburgh Pirates @ 966 St Louis Cardinals (Starting Pitchers: E. Bedard vs L. Lynn) After winning the first game of the series last night, Pittsburgh will start Bedard today, who has only pitched for five or less innings in two of his last four starts, while holding his opposing batters to .253 BA. He was able to overcome a terrible first inning last Sunday against the Padres and he eventually won due to a lot of run support. He allowed five runs in 5IP, while giving up five hits and four walks, while striking out six opponents. He has been very inconsistent and his recent good outings were against the struggling Arizona (last in BA this month) and the lowly Cubs. Against a Cards offense looking to make a bounce back after very two very poor hitting performances in a row, I believe Bedard will be in trouble today. On the other side, St Louis will start the struggling Lynn who has seen his team losing the last three games he started. In fact, he had a FIP over 4.00 in all of his last five starts. He seems to be worn out right now and he is particularly terrible against LH hitters (5.26 FIP and 5.03 xFIP). With Pittsburgh having some options on their lineup to explore this struggle from Lynn, I expect him to struggle once again today. I believe neither SP in in a good moment right now and therefore, considering we are talking about two teams with some very good hitters on their lineups, I expect this game to be a quite decent number of runs scored by both teams today and so, I'll be taking the Over on this contest.
