Even with some poor results lately, Arizona still has a shot of making it to the postseason. They are 59-59 right now and after yesterday's comeback win in St Louis, they will have a stretch of series against Houston, Miami, San Diego and Cincinnati where they can make a good run. The Dbacks will start Miley tonight and he saw his run of strong starts coming to an end, as he was torched with six runs and nine hits over 4.1 IP against Washington. Still, his control continues being amazing and he hasn't issued more than one walk in any of his last four games. Even though his start against Washington wasn't indeed great, he didn't have a terrible performance, as his poor stats come from some errors from Arizona and he then lost his composure. In fact, he had just a 2.87 FIP and 3.89 xFIP in that outing, a sign that his performance wasn't a very bad one and with him being on his sixth game with his FIP always lower than 4.00, coming from 5 days of rest and having previously this season dominated Houston with just one run and four hits allowed in 7.0 IP, I expect Miley to comeback to the great outings today and dominate the poor Astros offense, who hits just .195 BA against LH pitchers!
Houston will start Keuchel and he is coming from a good outing against Milwaukee, where in 6 IP he allowed two earned runs, five hits while having a 6/0 K/BB ratio. He is coming from two games against Washington and Milwaukee, where he had a FIP of 2.93 and 1.10, but before that, he was Miley's opponent in a game in Arizona and he got crushed by allowing 7 runs and 7 hits in just 3.1 IP, while having a 4/2 K/BB ratio. Even though he may be a bit better than this tonight, Arizona has a tremendous firepower against LH pitchers and they are right now the #2 team with a .793 OPS. After a huge win in St Louis yesterday, Arizona can't afford to lose this kind of games where they have a better SP in the mount and especially, a much better offense. Therefore, I expect a comfortable win for the Dbacks tonight and so, I'll take them in here.
