MLB - 959 Houston Astros @ 960 Chicago Cubs
(Starting Pitchers: L. Harrell vs C. Volstad)
Even though Houston is 6-36 on their last 42 games, they have a clear SP edge on this contest and therefore, I believe they have a great shot of getting a rare away win tonight. They'll start Harrell tonight and he is being their ace on the rotation over the last weeks, as he had 3.03 ERA and 3.06 FIP in July and now in August he currently has 3.27 ERA and 3.18 FIP, very solid numbers, always keep being very consistent on every start.
On the other hand, the Cubs finally won a game with Volstad in the mount, as they are now 1-10 this season with him on the mount. In that game against the Reds, Volstad gave up two runs in the first inning, but then he settled down a bit, even though he keeps not having a single winning decision this season (0-8 right now). Volstad had a 4.50 ERA in that game but a 7.10 FIP and the truth is that on their last 5 games, he has had 7.10, 4.53, 6.10, 5.60 and 6.43 FIP! Just awful! He is struggling against both LH and RH hitters and even against the struggling Astros batters, he should have some problems.
With Harrell having another solid outing and with Volstad struggling once again, I believe Houston will have an excellent chance of pulling the small upset in here and so, I'll take the Astros tonight on a rare road win for them.
