With Gregg Popovich using San Antonio's normal rotation, I don't believe a healthy and in-form Spurs team will give any chance to the Knicks tonight. Jason Kidd is being forced to play heavy minutes, Pablo Prigioni lacks foot speed to defend the Spurs quick guards and as soon as San Antonio's guards get through the Knicks' PG, Tyson Chandler can't do anything on his own as well. This is why Portland had 1.00 PPP (Points Per Possession) on pick and roll ball handler plays and 1.70 PPP on pick and roll roll man plays against the Knicks, with Damian Lillard shooting 9-19 FG and J.J. Hickson 9-11 FG! Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili with their high screens won't have problems in completely outplaying the Knicks defense today.
On the other hand, the Knicks offense lack the great fluidity that San Antonio possesses. Carmelo Anthony keeps saving the team in some games with huge performance, but the well-oiled offensive machine that the Knicks showed earlier on the season is now completely gone. Besides that, this is also a revenge game for San Antonio, as the Knicks defeated them in Texas on a late comeback win, with Raymond Felton being the MVP of that game with 10-20 FG, 25 points and 7 assists. Felton's dribble penetrations really made the Spurs defense struggle in that game, but he's out for tonight and Jason Kidd and Pablo Prigioni are very far from having this ability to expose San Antonio's defense. In that game, the Knicks shot 11-26 (42.3%) from 3pts, while San Antonio shot 8-29 (27.6%) 3pts! Things should be different tonight, as San Antonio is crushing their opponents left and right with their healthy and powerful offense, while the Knicks are currently banged up and far from their best. With Kawhi Leonard and Stephen Jackson now healthy to defend Carmelo Anthony, I expect the Spurs to get revenge tonight with a win at New York against the Knicks.
