NBA - 707 Los Angeles Clippers @ 708 Memphis Grizzlies
Projected Line: 180 points
Memphis was on a poor spot in their last game at Dallas and that's why they got absolutely crushed by the Mavericks. Dallas scored 21 fast break points and shot 8-12 FG on transitions, while being also sharp from the outside with 11-17 3pts. Memphis couldn't even have an edge down low with just 10-18 FG at the rim and even the boards battle was close, a sign of how tired the Grizzlies were. On the other hand, the Clippers wanted to toy with Orlando and they got burnt. Blake Griffin did whatever he wanted to do with the undersized Magic lineup, the Clippers weren't aggressive on the ball handlers and Orlando's guards torched them!
With these losses from both teams, we have everything necessary for this game to be a grind out one.
Tony Allen said, "We've gotta play with a sense of urgency. They've been punk'n us. We need to be the grinders"
This matchup is very favorable to both defenses. The Clippers are very efficient on pick and roll ball handler plays by being #3 in the league and their second unit has also been amazing. The Clippers are #4 on fast break points with 17.2 ppg and with Blake Griffin being in great form, the Clippers are also already #8 on post up offense. The problem for the LA team is that Memphis is a top defensive team in all these areas: #6 on pick and roll ball handler defense, #3 on post up defense and #8 on transition defense. The Clippers's defense will also make a good job tonight. Rudy Gay is out and that's important for the Clippers to be able to focus defensively in defending the Grizzlies frontcourt. The Clippers are #7 on post up defense and they are allowing just 63% FG at the rim and with the Grizzlies lacking good weaponry for the outside shooting, the Clippers will be able to stop the Grizzlies's offense tonight. Therefore, I expect a low scoring game and so, I'm taking the Under in here.
