MLB Premium Play 08/14: Washington Nationals @ San Francisco Giants

MLB - 965 Washington Nationals @ 966 San Francisco Giants

(Starting Pitchers: J. Zimmermann vs M. Bumgarner)

This game has every condition to be a pitching duel between two very good starting pitchers and so, I believe we have good value on the Under on this contest even though the line is currently set at six runs and a half.

The Nationals absolutely crushed Vogelsong yesterday, who saw his NL best 2.27 ERA climbing to 2.72 after he allowed eight runs in 2.2 IP. Washington will start Zimmerman tonight and he was insanely good in July. He is coming from a career high 11K against Houston and he allowed just three hits in six innings. On his six starts after the All-Star break, he is 4-0 with a 1.54 ERA and with 36 strikeouts in 35 innings. Zimmermann allowed two runs (one earned) in six innings against the Giants in July 3 and the truth is that he has allowed just one or even zero earned runs in 14 of his 23 starts!

San Francisco will start Bumgarner and he is coming from a game against St. Louis where he allowed three runs with 7K. He is 1-2 with a 4.00 ERA against Washington and even though he had a poor outing against the Nationals on July 4 (allowing seven runs in five innings), that was a very early away game and Bumgarner never got into rhythm in a game that started at 11AM EST! He may struggle a bit on the road (4.06 ERA and 4.44 FIP), but he's a completely different pitcher at home with an average of 1.98 ERA and 2.33 FIP. Considering he's facing at home a SP who had 2.10 FIP in July and currently averages 1.37 FIP in August, we should be into a very good pitchers duel tonight.

Even looking at the hitting ability that both teams have, these two starting pitchers have great spots for today and they have been looking very impressive lately. So, even considering the low totals line, I see enough value on the Under on this contest and therefore, I'll take it in here as I really expect a very dominant performance from both pitchers tonight.

Pick: 3 units (Single Dime Play) on 965/966 Under 6.5 (w/ J. Zimmermann & M. Bumgarner) @ -125 / 1.80 on 5Dimes
