(Starting Pitchers: D. Fister vs B. Duensing)
Detoit will start Fister today and he has been excellent since the All-Star break by going 4-1 with a 1.79 ERA, 0.86 WHIP and 4:6 K:BB ratio in six starts. In four of those starts, he allowed just 1 run in each game! He is coming from just 4 days rest and 109 pitches thrown, but the reason for concern is that Minnesota is his biggest nemesis, as their current roster has .333 BA and .927 OPS against him. In fact, his last poor outing was against the Twins and he has already allowed 4 and 6 runs to Minnesota this season at home. However, Fister is on his best moment of the season right now and he will surely be fired up to dominate the Twins and get revenge over his last poor outings against them.
On the other side, the Twins will start Duensing and he is coming from back to back starts where he allowed double digits hits (10 & 11 hits). Since he was promoted into a starting pitcher, he has been having poor K:BB ratios with 2:0, 3:0 and 3:1 plus he has been terrible this season against RH batters with .322 BA and .834 OPS against them. Considering Detroit is #1 on the league on BA against RHP with .280 and #3 on OPS with .782, I believe Duensing is going to have a tough time tonight.
This is a bounce back spot for Detroit after yesterday's loss and a revenge spot for Fister, so I believe the Tigers should be able to comfortable take advantage of Duensing's struggles and get a comfortable win tonight. I'm taking Detroit in here.
