NBA - 701 Sacramento Kings @ 702 Cleveland Cavaliers
Projected Lines: 203 points | pk line
Cleveland had three days to rest prior to this game, while Sacramento will play their third game in four nights, with this game being also a back to back game. The Kings lost at Detroit last night, in a game where DeMarcus Cousins and Jason Thompson worked very well with 6-10 FG and 10-21 FG, but the Kings second unit was completely outplayed by the red hot Pistons second unit. Without Marcus Thornton and Tyreke Evans, the Kings had to play a lot of small ball and they got out-muscled by the Pistons bigger backcourt. Now at Cleveland, I believe Jason Thompson and DeMarcus Cousins will get the upperhand over Tyler Zeller and Tristan Thompson. With Anderson Varejao still out, Cleveland had to use Luke Walton at the PF position!
The Cavaliers continue being one of the worst defensive teams in protecting the rim by allowing 70% FG this season and 72% FG over their last 5 games! Sacramento's offense has recently improved a lot due to better spacing and better off-ball movement from their players. With that, their spot ups and cuts improved considerably, as Sacramento is averaging 1.00 PPP on spot ups for the season but 1.20 PPP on their last 5 games, while they also went from 1.07 PPP (season) to 1.30 PPP (last 5 games) on transition plays.Cleveland's defense is pretty much terrible in every area, starting with poor defense from their guards and ending on their terrible rim defense. Therefore, Sacramento's offense should have a big game today.
Sacramento is being a really bad defensive rebounding team, so Cleveland should be able to score a lot of second chance points, even though they aren't an elite offensive rebounding team without Anderson Varejao. Sacramento is also the worst team in the league in defending pick and roll ball handler plays, so Kyrie Irving should have a field day today. Cleveland has also a nice spot to have a nice offensive game today. I expect the Kings to make this game highly competitive on a matchup that clearly favors both offenses, therefore I'll be taking both Sacramento and the Over in here.
