NBA - 509 New Orleans Hornets @ 510 Chicago Bulls
Projected Line: 179 points | Chicago by 13 points
Chicago is coming from a super easy win in Cleveland last night. The Bulls shot a white hot 63.8 percent from the field and compiled 34 assists on 44 field goals. They outscored the Cavaliers 48-36 in the paint and 15-11 in fast break points. They got to the line 30 times and won the rebounding battle 41-33. So, they used their usual combination of a hard-nosed defense and an unselfish and opportunistic offense to dominate the Cavaliers.
The Bulls have a back to back game today, but on yesterday's blowout, the starters didn't play for a lot of time, with even Luol Deng playing just 31 minutes. I believe the Hornets will have a lot of offensive problems on this contest. Anthony Davis is out for this contest and he had been a bigger help on offense than on defense in the first two games. Ryan Anderson will start on his place, but the Hornets will now lack an offensive playmaker. Austin Rivers is struggling and even though Greivis Vasquez had two nice games against San Antonio and Utah with +10 assists in each game, one thing is facing Tony Parker and Mo Williams and another thing is facing Chicago's defensive system with a good defender like Kirk Hinrich on the PG position. Speaking of defense, the Bulls held Kyrie Irving to 6-15 FG and a game-worst +/- of -21 last night.
New Orleans surprised in the first two games with a lot of points near the basket and Robin Lopez even looked like an All-Star yesterday by shooting 9-16 FG, helping the team to score 56 points in the paint! I challenge now the Hornets' offense to do the same thing tonight against Chicago!
After a fast paced game against San Antonio (92.91), I predicted the Hornets would slow it down the pace in the second game against Utah and that happened, as the pace of that game was 84.69, the slowest paced game of the season so far! I expect tonight's contest to have a similar pace to yesterday's game between the Hornets and the Bulls and with New Orleans struggling big time on offense, I came up with a totals projection of 179 points, low enough for me to take the Under in here.
Chicago may take it easy at the start of the game, but coach Thibodeau is quite exigent with his team and he will put the Bulls playing close to their best quite early, with that resulting in a complete shutdown of the Hornets offense. Therefore, I'll be also taking Chicago in here for a blowout win.
Pick: 3 units (Single Dime Play) on 509/510 Under 183.5 @ -110 / 1.91 on Bookmaker
Pick: 3 units (Single Dime Play) on 510 Chicago Bulls (-9,5) @ -110 / 1.91 on Bookmaker
