NBA - 507 Utah Jazz @ 508 Memphis Grizzlies
Projected Lines: 189 points | Memphis by 8 points
***DOUBLE DIME PLAY***
We are 4-0 on plays in games involving Utah and all of them were easy wins (Utah + Over vs Dallas; Under vs New Orleans; Over vs San Antonio). Utah is currently dealing with some problems on offense that are being covered with Mo Williams' good shooting. On the other hand, their defense isn't simply not good, especially on perimeter defense. That's why San Antonio ended the 1st half of their game against the Jazz while shooting 74% FG! This can even be considered as normal, having in account that San Antonio is a tough matchup for Utah, who has problems in closing out the shooters on the outside. Still, the Jazz defense had a good run in the 3rd quarter, where they forced eight turnovers to the Spurs and had six blocks that resulted in easy transition points for the team. That's how they scored 35 points in that quarter. Mo Williams was on fire at the end of the 3rd quarter, but that sick stretch also reveals the lack of intensity from Utah's offense, as it was Mo Williams alone against the world, the reason why for the second game in a row, the Jazz failed to reach the 20 assists mark: 19 and 17 assists! These problems of Utah's offense will get exposed today against the terrific frontcourt of Memphis. Utah's frontline will have problems in scoring easy points down low and with that, Utah's perimeter will have to attempt once again contested shots in the perimeter.
Memphis is possibly the team in better physical shape in the league right now. On their last game at Golden State, Memphis led the whole game and they were phenomenal in the 3rd quarter, where they shutdown the Warriors' red hot offense! On offense, Marc Gasol is playing very well, while Zach Randolph is back at being 100% healthy. The combination of these two players in the frontcourt will bring a lot of attention from the opposing defenses and Memphis will take advantage of that with Mike Conley and Rudy Gay, who have been quite active early on the season.
The Grizzlies are clearly in a much better moment than the Jazz right now and with this game being a home opener game for the home team, I expect Memphis to come fired up and turn this game into a tough and physical battle in the frontcourt. I believe the Grizzlies will get a comfortable win in here, while putting the Jazz offense in a lot of trouble, therefore I'll be taking Memphis in a Single Dime Play and the Under on a Double Dime Play!
