NBA Premium Play 11/02: Memphis Grizzlies @ Golden State Warriors

NBA - 721 Memphis Grizzlies @ 722 Golden State Warriors

Projected line: Memphis by 6 points

***DOUBLE DIME PLAY***

We are in front of two teams in very different stages in terms of chemistry and physical shape. Curiously, the best team of these two lost their first game, while the worst one won their game. However, the fact that Memphis played in LA against the Clippers, while Golden State faced Phoenix explains that.

I watched Memphis' game against the Clippers this afternoon and the game was amazing, as it looked that we were already on the playoffs, with great intensity in both ends of the floor. However, the Clippers' superior depth decided the game down the stretch. What impressed me the most in the Grizzlies was their physical condition, as Zach Randolph looked like he was back into his 2010-11 season form, while Marc Gasol looked better than ever. With that, and even though the Clippers are an extremely athletic team, Memphis completely crushed the LA team in the boards battle by grabbing 56.28% of the rebounds.

It's not a surprise that Memphis is so well advanced in their preparation, as immediately on their first preseason game, we saw the starters playing for more than 30 minutes (http://espn.go.com/nba/boxscore?id=400400463)! This isn't normal in a preseason game, let alone in the first preseason game! Memphis' defense was very aggressive as usual against the Clippers, with their only problem being their transition defense by allowing the Clippers to score too many transition points. On offense, Memphis looked very good on the inside, excluding on the final quarter, with both Zach Randolph and Marc Gasol looking great!

On the other hand, Golden State won their first game of the season in Phoenix, but they didn't impress me. It was evident that both Andrew Bogut and Stephen Curry are still far from being physically at 100%, with Bogut being limited to 18 minutes and Curry shooting 2-14 FT, while having 3 assists and 4 turnovers. The Warriors' problem for this game resides in the frontcourt, as Bogut isn't ready to play major minutes yet and his backup is a rookie, while in the PF position, both David Lee and Carl Landry are a zero on defense and lack toughness. Of course they didn't struggle in Phoenix because the Suns frontcourt isn't aggressive, but against both Zach Randolph and Marc Gasol, they will get pounded tonight down low. Stephen Curry will also have a tough matchup against Mike Conley, who is a good defender. Rookie Harrison Barnes has been shown potential, but he will face Rudy Gay, who looked very good against the Clippers with 11-21 FG and 7 rebounds. Also Tony Allen is a great defender and he will cause problems to Golden State's best shooter Klay Thompson.

Golden State may be playing this game at home, but Memphis will have a tremendous physical edge on this contest and they will be looking to bounce back after losing the first game in LA against the Clippers. The Grizzlies are by far the better team on this contest, they have in the Warriors a favorable matchup and so, I'll be taking them in here in a Double Dime Play!
