Chicago is coming from a road win in Milwaukee, where Larry Sanders's absence allowed the Bulls to pound Milwaukee down low with 66 points in the paint with 28-37 FG at the rim! Then, Nate Robinson also had a great offensive night with 9-11 FG to help his team in getting a comfortable win. Brooklyn's defense really has a weakness that has been well explored by the teams who can explore that: they struggle against quick guards. A team that has quick guards and can attack well in transition can expose Brookyln's poor transition defense quite easily. Atlanta scored 29 and 17 fast break points against them, Houston scored 27 fast break points against them and in their last game, Miami scored 20 fast break points. However, while Atlanta is #6 on transition offense, Houston #7 and Miami #2, Chicago is just #26 on transitions and so, Brooklyn won't get exposed on this area tonight.
On the previous game between these two teams, Brooklyn lost at Chicago by just 1 point, even though they were playing their fourth game in five nights against a rested Bulls team that had 2 days off to rest. Chicago will be without Carlos Boozer for tonight, while Joakim Noah is questionable. This will be problematic for them, as Brooklyn has Brook Lopez to pound them down low and in the last game against Chicago, he had 8-17 FG, 18 points and 10 rebounds in just 25 minutes! With Taj Gibson having to start the game, Chicago will have no decent frontcourt player coming off the bench. The Bulls didn't struggle on this area against Milwaukee because the Bucks don't have anybody good on the down low with nice post up moves like Lopez does.
Brooklyn got humiliated by Miami at home on their last game, but now on a good matchup against the Bulls, I expect them to bounce back tonight against a Bulls team that will be missing Carlos Boozer, Kirk Hinrich and perhaps Joakim Noah. I'm taking the Nets tonight for an easy win for them.
