NBA - 509 Utah Jazz @ 510 Sacramento Kings
Projected Line: Sacramento by 3 points
Utah without Mo Williams and especially Gordon Hayward gets way too one-dimensional and they depend too much from what their frontcourt players can do. Yesterday was a good example of that. We had Al Jefferson having a monster effort by playing more than 40 minutes in regular time for the first time this season, while having 15-22 FG, 32 points and 13 rebounds. Paul Millsap also had 8-14 FG and 21 points, but Utah wasn't able to win the game due to the complete lack of efficiency from their backcourt that shot just 4-16 FG, with Jamaal Tinsley shooting 0-2 FG, Randy Foye 4-11 FG, Alec Burks 2-6 and Marvin Williams 1-6 FG! That's a combined of 7-25 FG! Chicago won the game because they were more competent on their outside shooting than Utah, besides having a rebounding edge.
Now the Jazz will be playing on the road, while playing their third game in four nights and coming from a big effort against Chicago last night. This isn't a good spot for them, especially when Al Jefferson will have a tough matchup against Demarcus Cousins. Utah hasn't been rebounding well and with no quality on their backcourt, they have too many flaws for this poor spot, even on a game against the lowly Kings.
On the other hand, Sacramento had 4 days off prior to this contest! They played at Utah, in a game that went to overtime and they haven't played since. It was the final game of the Kings's road trip and they faded away down the stretch. However, it was the Jazz's bench that was the key factor on this game with 41 points and 17-26 FG. Utah's starters didn't have a good team +/-, so Sacramento's starting lineup hung around very well in the game against Utah's starters. The Jazz got away with the win at the end due to a rare outside game with 7-12 3pts, while Sacramento had a clear edge in something that will happen once again today, as Utah's lack of speed on the perimeter is evident and it will get exposed by Sacramento's quick guards, especially Isiah Thomas and Tyreke Evans. If we combine the matchup edges and Utah's bad spot, I believe Sacramento has the right conditions to pick up a good home win today.
