MLB Premium Play 08/26: San Francisco Giants @ Colorado Rockies

MLB - 955 San Francisco Giants @ 956 Colorado Rockies

(Starting Pitchers: B. Zito vs J. Nicasio)

Barry Zito will have another start tonight, but he has no business in being a SP right now. He had another chance against Boston and got crushed with six earned runs allowed in 3.2 innings. His 10.26 ERA, 7.17 FIP and 5.43 xFIP on the second half of the season say it all, with a 14.9% K% and 10.3% BB%! Now at Colorado, I can only expect him to be absolutely crushed tonight.

Juan Nicasio will start for the Rockies and after a good stretch of outings after getting called up from AAA, he had poor advanced numbers on his last two outings with 4.79 FIP + 5.18 xFIP and 6.53 FIP + 5.75 xFIP! San Francisco is #6 in the league versus RH pitchers over the last 14 days with .264 BA, so I believe they will put Nicasio in danger tonight as well. Therefore, I expect a super high scoring game in here and so, I'll be taking the Over.

Pick: 3 units (Single Dime Play) on 955/956 Over 10,5 (w/ B. Zito & J. Nicasio) @ -105 / 1.95 on Betonline

MLB Premium Play 08/23: Pittsburgh Pirates @ San Francisco Giants

MLB - 911 Pittsburgh Pirates @ 912 San Francisco Giants

(Starting Pitchers: C. Morton vs M. Bumgarner)

Charlie Morton will start for Pittsburgh tonight and he has been very solid, if we exclude a disastrous start against St Louis. I took him on his last start against Arizona and it wasn't because of him that I lost that play, as he allowed two earned runs in seven innings, with a 6/3 K/BB ratio. He is a groundball pitcher who completely dominates RH batters with .271 wOBA, 3.08 FIP and 2.82 xFIP. The Giants' lineup is mostly composed by righties, so this is a good spot for Morton tonight.

San Francisco will start Madison Bumgarner, who allowed four runs in five innings against the Marlins last Sunday. He has allowed at least one walk in five of his last six starts and with him being left-handed, he will be a good matchup for Pittsburgh, a team that is #4 in the league on hitting against LH pitchers. Their lineup is fully of righties, so Bumgarner won't have a lot of lefties to dominate tonight (.158 BA, 2.83 FIP and 2.34 xFIP). Therefore, I believe Morton is being underrated in here, while Bumgarner is being a bit overrated especially against the Pirates' good offense against LH pitchers. Looking at all of these, I'll be taking the Pirates tonight.

Pick: 3 units (Single Dime Play) on 911 Pittsburgh Pirates RL +1 (w/ C. Morton) @ -127 / 1.78 on 5Dimes

MLB Premium Play 08/20: Boston Red Sox @ San Francisco Giants

MLB - 981 Boston Red Sox @ 982 San Francisco Giants

(Starting Pitchers: J. Peavy vs R. Vogelsong)

Boston was on a poor spot yesterday, but they still crushed the Giants. Jon Lester pitched for 8.1 innings, so the Red Sox bullpen could rest. For tonight's game, Boston will have a clear SP edge. Ryan Vogelsong will start for San Francisco and this will be his third start after returning from the DL. The problem is that it's clear that he isn't ready to play right now. His command has been poor with a 7/6 K/BB ratio and he just can't go deep in the games due to a high P/IP ratio. To make things worse, his velocity is at a career low of 88 mph! Now against the #1 team in the league in hitting versus RH pitchers, I expect the worst for Vogelsong.

On the other hand, Jake Peavy will start for the Red Sox and after allowing six earned runs to the Royals in five innings, he bounced back at Toronto with two earned runs allowed in six innings. As a flyball pitcher, Peavy struggles with homeruns with a poor 12.7% HR/FB%, but this won't be a problem at San Francisco, so he should dominate the Giants. Considering the SP & offense edges for Boston tonight, I can only expect an easy win for them tonight.

Pick: 3 units (Single Dime Play) on 981 Boston Red Sox RL -1 (w/ J. Peavy) @ -132 / 1.76 on 5Dimes

MLB Premium Play 08/14: San Francisco Giants @ Washington Nationals

MLB - 955 San Francisco Giants @ 956 Washington Nationals

(Starting Pitchers: T. Lincecum vs J. Zimmermann)

San Francisco will start Tim Lincecum tonight and he is currently on a good moment. His last outing was against Milwaukee and he was super sharp with no runs allowed in eight innings, while having a 8/1 K/BB! Besides a poor outing against the Reds, where he was on a letdown spot, after a no-hitter, Lincecum has been excellent as of late, even with a good command! His change up is working again and I expect him to have another good outing tonight against the Nationals.

Washington will start Jordan Zimmermann tonight and he is struggling during this second half of the season, after a great first half. There are some reports conflicts between the coach and Zimmermann about some neck stiffness, but the truth is that Zimmermann is struggling right now with high P/IP ratios that are the consequence of 2, 4, 3 and 2 walked batters on his last four starts. The Nationals seem to be living their worst moment of the season so far and with Lincecum pitching better than Zimmernmann right now, I believe we are a great opportunity to take the Giants as underdogs tonight.

Pick: 3 units (Single Dime Play) on 955 San Francisco Giants ML (w/ T. Lincecum) @ +136 / 2.36 on 5Dimes

MLB Premium Play 08/08: Milwaukee Brewers @ San Francisco Giants

MLB - 957 Milwaukee Brewers @ 958 San Francisco Giants

(Starting Pitchers: D. Hand vs T. Lincecum)

San Francisco won the first game of this series, but then they lost the following two games, even though they were clearly favored in both contests. However, it's important to note that they faced Wily Peralta and Marco Estrada in those two games, two capable pitchers. In today's game, I believe we have a real mismatch favoring San Francisco. Tim Lincecum will start for the Giants today and he has been a true ace on his last starts. He had some struggles after the no-hitter against Cincinnati, but he quickly bounced back with two great outings against the Cubs and at Tampa Bay. His strikeout numbers have been impressive as well, alongside an improvement on his change up as well. Lincecum has been terrific against RH batters with 3.52 FIP and 2.98 xFIP, so he should dominate the Brewers' lineup today that is full of righties as usual.

Milwaukee will start Donovan Hand today, who has a decent 3.60 ERA, but much worse advanced numbers with 4.91 FIP and 4.37 xFIP! His inability to strikeout batters has been a problem, as he is also allowing a lot of homeruns, despite facing poor offensive teams as of late. He will be a good matchup for the Giants' offense and so, I expect San Francisco to pick up an easy win in today's game.

Pick: 3 units (Single Dime Play) on 958 San Francisco Giants RL -1 (w/ T. Lincecum) @ -120 / 1.83 on 5Dimes

MLB Premium Play 08/05: Milwaukee Brewers @ San Francisco Giants

MLB - 905 Milwaukee Brewers @ 906 San Francisco Giants

(Starting Pitchers: T. Thornburg vs C. Gaudin)

Milwaukee will start Tyler Thornburg tonight, who is coming from pitching six innings of shutout ball last Tuesday against the Cubs. This was his first start in the majors and even though he looked good in this outing, the truth is that his 5.79 ERA and 4.11 FIP in AAA don't impress me one bit. He is a classic fastball + curveball kind of pitcher and even though he looked good on his first starts in the majors, I don't believe he will be so successful tonight at San Francisco.

Chad Gaudin will start for the Giants and he is coming from allowing just one earned run in seven innings against Philadelphia last Wednesday. This is a nice bounce back spot for Gaudin, after getting crushed on his previous start against Cincinnati at home. I believe Gaudin will have another good outing tonight, as he has been excellent against RH batters with .174 BA, .231 wOBA, 2.81 FIP and 3.17 xFIP against them! Milwaukee's lineup is full of RH batters plus they are a subpar offensive team on the road, so I believe Gaudin will do a good job tonight, allowing his team to pick up an easy win in here.

Pick: 3 units (Single Dime Play) on 906 San Francisco Giants RL -1 (w/ C. Gaudin) @ -111 / 1.90 on 5Dimes

MLB Premium Play 07/24: Cincinnati Reds @ San Francisco Giants

MLB - 913 Cincinnati Reds @ 914 San Francisco Giants

(Starting Pitchers: M. Leake vs C. Gaudin)

The Giants are home dogs in here, but I don't agree with the notion that Leake is a better SP than Gaudin, as not only the latter has actually better advanced numbers than Leake, as the Reds' SP for tonight's game has been struggling as of late. Leake had just two quality outings over his last six, with one of them being against the struggling Rangers' offense. Leake's last three outings are especially worrying with poor K/BB ratios of 5/2, 2/4 and 2/1! To make things worse for him tonight, San Francisco's roster is hitting .351 BA and .990 OPS in 77 AB's against him! Therefore, I believe Leake will struggle tonight.

On the other side, Chad Gaudin is coming from four consecutive good starts with 0, 1, 1 and 0 earned runs allowed! He impressed especially against the red hot Dodgers with one earned run allowed on just seven innings, while having a great 9/1 K/BB! Gaudin's 2.23 ERA won't last forever, but his 2.95 FIP, 3.61 xFIP and 3.61 SIERA show that he has been indeed great. Therefore, I believe the Giants will have a slight edge on SP tonight, so I see them having great value as home dogs in here.

MLB Premium Play 07/19: Arizona Diamondbacks @ San Francisco Giants

MLB - 963 Arizona Diamondbacks @ 964 San Francisco Giants

(Starting Pitchers: I. Kennedy vs C. Gaudin)

***DOUBLE DIME PLAY***

Arizona has been winning some games lately, but always thanks to good pitching, as they had five games on their last seven where they hit below .200 BA, while on the other two they hit .200 and .250 BA! That was good enough to win three games out of four against Milwaukee, which is a terrible road team, but the truth is that Arizona's offense is #23 in the league over the last 14 days and #28 over the last 30 days! The Dbacks will face Chad Gaudin tonight, who has been excellent as SP for the Giants. He is 3-1 with a 2.39 ERA and 1.14 WHIP through 24 appearances (six starts) this season. Gaudin had just one bad start at Atlanta, where his tendency for fly ball pitching (38.8%) was explored by the Braves with two home runs. The good news for him is at San Francisco's park is pitcher-friendly and Arizona's lineup lacks the power of Atlanta's as well (Atlanta #5 on ISO with .162; Arizona is #25 with .134 ISO). Therefore, I expect a solid outing for Gaudin tonight.

On the other side, San Francisco's offense took advantage of their last series at San Diego to get some offensive groove by hitting .308, .395 and .270 BA in three of the four games of the series. They will face Ian Kennedy tonight, a pitcher who has been struggling a lot with his command lately, with a combined 18/11 K/BB ratio on his last four outings! Normally the All Star break is used for the players to slow down, but Kennedy will start tonight with a regular rest, as his last start was last Sunday! So, we have San Francisco fired up to recover some grain on the NL West and with their current best SP on the mount, so I expect them to pound the struggling Kennedy tonight and pick up a comfortable win in here. I'll be taking San Francisco in here on a Double Dime Play!

MLB Premium Play 07/11: San Francisco Giants @ San Diego Padres

MLB - 959 San Francisco Giants @ 960 San Diego Padres

(Starting Pitchers: M. Bumgarner vs J. Marquis)

Both teams are currently struggling with San Francisco being 2-8 on their last 10 games, while San Diego is 1-9 on their last 10 games. Therefore, this is an important series for both teams. The Giants will start Madison Bumgarner tonight, who held the Dodgers to two runs in seven innings last Saturday. Just the fact that he dominated the super red hot Dodgers shows how well Bumgarner is pitching right now. He has allowed just 2, 1, 2, 2 and 0 earned runs on his last five outings and even though he has been walking some batters here and there, the truth is that Bumgarner is being very impressive lately. San Diego's offense is hitting .228 BA versus LH pitchers on their last 10 games and the truth is that Bumgarner has dominated the Padres twice this season by allowing two earned runs on each game, while striking out 8 and 10 batters in the process.

San Diego will start Jason Marquis, who allowed three earned runs on his last outing at Washington. Marquis keeps having some horrible advanced numbers and according to my rankings, I have Marquis as #150 in a total of 153 qualified pitchers! The best that can happen to a struggling team like San Francisco is to face a pitcher with poor command and this is exactly what the Giants will have in here. With the help of an in-form Bumgarner, I expect San Francisco to pick up a comfortable win tonight.

MLB Premium Play 07/07: Los Angeles Dodgers @ San Francisco Giants

MLB - 961 Los Angeles Dodgers @ 962 San Francisco Giants

(Starting Pitchers: C. Kershaw vs C. Gaudin)

The Dodgers will start Clayton Kershaw today, who keeps dominating the league. He is coming from a complete game shutout against the Rockies and his 1.93 ERA says it all. Kershaw struggled early on the season to win decisions due to some terrible run support (he is 7-5 with a 1.93 ERA!), but things are different now, as the Dodgers have the #2 offense in the league over the last 14 days!

San Francisco will start Chad Gaudin today and he is coming from the DL. He surprised a bit on his first starts, but the surprise factor was completely gone on his last two outings and with no strikeout punch (1/2 and 0/1 K/BB ratios), he got pounded. With the Dodgers being red hot right now and with Kershaw in the mount, I expect Gaudin to struggle today, giving the LA team an easy win today. Therefore, I'll be taking the Dodgers in here.

Pick: 3 units (Single Dime Play) on 961 Los Angeles Dodgers RL -1 (w/ C. Kershaw) @ -150 / 1.67 on 5Dimes

MLB Premium Play 07/05: Los Angeles Dodgers @ San Francisco Giants

MLB - 963 Los Angeles Dodgers @ 964 San Francisco Giants

(Starting Pitchers: H. Ryu vs M. Cain)

The LA Dodgers will start Hyun-Jin Ryu tonight and he seems to be hitting a wall lately, after a great start of the season. However, he seems to be able to limit damage quite well, with a 2.70 ERA in June after a 2.38 ERA in May, but his advanced stats tell another story: .210 BA in May vs .280 BA in June; 3.65 FIP in May vs 4.12 FIP in June! According to my ranks, Ryu faced just one good offensive team on his last four starts and it was indeed on his last start against Philadelphia. Ryu has been using the fact that he is a rookie to surprise his opponents, but he won't be able to do that tonight, as he will face the Giants for the fourth time this season. He dominated San Francisco on his first start of the season, but then he was worse on the following two outings. So, it will be up to the Giants' lineup to expose Ryu's struggles tonight. San Francisco didn't play yesterday at Cincinnati due to the bad weather and I believe they will have a decent offensive spot tonight. Not only they have a 111 wRC+ at home versus 84 on the road, as they are also #6 in the league versus LH pitchers, while they are just #17 versus RH pitchers. So, I expect San Francisco to be able to put Ryu in trouble tonight.

On the other hand, Matt Cain will start for the Giants tonight and he is pitching much better as of late. His last five starts were always below 4.00 FIP, even though he has been facing an easy schedule as of late. Cain is a flyball pitcher and so, he likes to play at home on a pitcher-friendly park. He has been dominating the Dodgers this season with one and zero earned runs allowed on two games against them earlier on the season, so I believe Cain will be able to have another good outing tonight. I believe the Giants will have a clear SP edge tonight and therefore, I expect them to pick up a comfortable win in here.

MLB Premium Play 07/02: San Francisco Giants @ Cincinnati Reds

MLB - 907 San Francisco Giants @ 908 Cincinnati Reds

(Starting Pitchers: T. Lincecum vs H. Bailey)

The Giants is starting Tim Lincecum, who allowed four runs in 5.1 innings against the Dodgers last Wednesday. Lincecum is being very inconsistent this season, with control problems, a high number of walks and high pitch counts, so he can't go deep in the games. However, he will be facing the Reds tonight, who hit much better versus LH pitchers yesterday (as shown yesterday) than RH pitchers like Lincecum. Therefore, I expect Lincecum to be able to have a decent outing in here.

On the other hand, Cincinnati will start Homer Bailey, who allowed four runs in six innings last Wednesday against Oakland. He allowed all four runs on the fourth inning, while he allowed just two hits and a walk on the other five innings of the outing. His 3.75 season ERA is a decent stat, but his advanced numbers are even better: 2.70 FIP and 2.98 xFIP! Bailey allowed a home run on each of his last three starts, but Oakland, Pittsburgh and Milwaukee are teams with nice offensive numbers. On the other hand, San Francisco is a team full of RH batters and Bailey has a 1.90 FIP and 2.50 xFIP versus RH hitters this season! I expect Bailey to dominate the Giants tonight, while Lincecum should be able to do a fine job in here as well, so I see this game being a low scoring affair. Therefore, I'll be taking the Under in here.

Pick: 3 units (Single Dime Play) on 907/908 Under 8.5 (w/ T. Lincecum & H. Bailey) @ -115 / 1.87 on 5Dimes

MLB Premium Play 06/30: San Francisco Giants @ Colorado Rockies

MLB - 909 San Francisco Giants @ 910 Colorado Rockies

(Starting Pitchers: M. Bumgarner vs D. Pomeranz)

Both offenses are struggling right now, even though San Francisco is currently struggling a bit more. So, the key in here will be on the pitching, where I believe the Giants will have a considerable edge. San Francisco will start Madison Bumgarner today and after struggling at the end of May, including a poor outing at Colorado with seven runs allowed in 4.2 innings, he is now cruising, so I expect him to get revenge over the Rockies today.

Colorado will see Drew Pomeranz having his season MLB debut today, but he didn't impress on Triple-A earlier on this season with 4.20 ERA and 1.36 WHIP on 15 starts! San Francisco has better numbers versus LH pitchers, so I believe they will bounce back today with a nice win in here.

Pick: 3 units (Single Dime Play) on 909 San Francisco Giants ML (w/ M. Bumgarner) @ -127 / 1.79 on Betonline

MLB Premium Play 06/29: San Francisco Giants @ Colorado Rockies

MLB - 955 San Francisco Giants @ 956 Colorado Rockies

(Starting Pitchers: M. Cain vs J. De La Rosa)

San Francisco couldn't make Jhoulys Chacin struggle yesterday with just four runs and with their run scored being against the bullpen. The Giants will try to bounce back today with Matt Cain, who has been pitching well as of late with 2.72 FIP and 3.13 xFIP! He had just two bad starts over his last 10 starts, with one of them being exactly at Colorado, where he allowed three homeruns. As Cain is a flyball pitcher, this detail is an important one in games played in Colorado, but it looks like the humidity in Colorado will be very low and with the wind being low as well, with the same thing happening with temperatures. Therefore, Cain should be helped with the weather and have a nice outing today.

On the other hand, Jorge De La Rosa will start for the Rockies today and he has been pitching well lately, even though the 3+3+3 walks on his last three outings are certainly a reason for concern. Also the fact that he faced Washington twice on the last three games helped him, as the Nationals are the worst team in the league on hitting versus LH pitchers! De La Rosa faced also the Blue Jays during this stretch of games, a team that is also just #25 in the league versus LH pitchers! Therefore, I believe he is coming overrated for today's game. He had two starts against San Francisco earlier on the season and he struggled in both games, with five and three runs allowed. One of the reasons why De La Rosa struggled was because he isn't a good pitcher versus RH hitters with .306 wOBA, 3.77 FIP and 4.17 xFIP allowed to them. The Giants' lineup consists mostly of RH batters, so they should be able to pound De La Rosa today and get a nice bounce back win for the Giants in here.

MLB Premium Play 06/25: San Francisco Giants @ Los Angeles Dodgers

MLB - 955 San Francisco Giants @ 956 Los Angeles Dodgers

(Starting Pitchers: M. Kickham vs S. Fife)

San Francisco will start Michael Kickham, who had a spot start on May 28 at Oakland and he couldn't get out of the second inning! He has posted a 4.81 ERA at Triple-A Fresno this season, so he's not impressive at all. The Dodgers are a great team on hitting versus LH pitchers, so this is a great spot for them to pound Kickham tonight. On the other hand, the LA Dodgers will start Stephen Fife, who has been pitching great lately. He took a no-decision last Thursday at San Diego, where he allowed just one earned run on six innings. Fife is posting a 3.25 ERA and 27/8 K/BB on 27.2 innings over five starts this year. This will be Fife's fifth start in a row and he has been very solid in all outings. I expect him to have a decent outing tonight and with the Dodgers pounding Kickham, I'll be taking the LA team in here.

MLB Premium Play 06/17: San Diego Padres @ San Francisco Giants

MLB - 961 San Diego Padres @ 962 San Francisco Giants

(Starting Pitchers: E. Volquez vs B. Zito)

The Padres are completely on fired right now. They took advantage of the home court edge, but their combination of good pitching with clutch hitting allowed them to win their last six games. On the other hand, the Giants are in a poor spot tonight, as they played at Atlanta last night on a Sunday Night Baseball game. San Diego will start Edison Volquez and he has been quite inconsistent this season. He got crushed at Colorado with nine runs and eleven hits allowed in just 2.1 innings, but we have to take in consideration that there aren't a lot of pitchers who don't get crushed at Colorado nowadays. After that game, Volquez bounced back against Atlanta with one run allowed in seven innings, while striking out nine batters! I know that he has a problem with walking batters, but he has a favorable matchup tonight. San Francisco is a pitcher-friendly park and the Giants lack patient to get walked a lot of times, with a 6.3% BB% over the last 14 days (#29)! The Giants' lineup has been inconsistent now that they're shorthanded and so, I expect Volquez to have a positive outing tonight.

On the other hand, Barry Zito will pitch for the Giants and it seems that he has exploded. He had a nice start of the season, but now he is either too hittable or has a really poor control. I faded him at Pittsburgh on his last outing and he allowed eleven runs in just 4.2 innings! Before that, he faced Toronto and couldn't strike out a single batter. He played better against Oakland, but he walked six batters and got luck that the Athletics were on a poor day and couldn't take advantage of that. Things will be different against the red hot Padres. San Diego is #4 on the league in OPS with .778 over the past two weeks, while hitting .306 BA on their last 10 games against LH pitchers! Zito has faced the Padres twice earlier on the season and he pitched well with just one and zero runs allowed, even though he pitched for just 3.2 innings on his last start with a terrible 24.8 P/IP! Now the Padres are much better than they were when they faced Zito in April, so I expect them to pound Zito tonight and pick up their seventh win in a row in here.

MLB Premium Play 06/15: San Francisco Giants @ Atlanta Braves

MLB - 957 San Francisco Giants @ 958 Atlanta Braves

(Starting Pitchers: C. Gaudin vs M. Minor)

San Francisco absolutely dominated Atlanta yesterday, with Madison Bumgarner dominating the struggling Braves' lineup, while the shorthanded Giants' lineup is now red hot with .297 BA, .395 BA and .375 BA on their last three games! Chad Gaudin will start for them today and this will be his first start this season, after having come out of the bullpen early on the season. His first two starts were also on the road and he looked really good at St Louis and Arizona, who are #7 and #10 in the league versus RH pitchers! Gaudin has a great 22.7% K% rate, so he will have a good matchup against Atlanta's lineup who is #29 in the league on K% with 23.8%!

Atlanta will start Mike Minor today and he has been great since early May! However, his advanced numbers are a bit worse than his 2.44 ERA and he won't have an easy matchup today, as the Giants are hitting .360 BA on their last 10 games versus LH pitchers! San Francisco was able to score runs against Liriano, Skaggs and Corbin, so they should also be able to put Minor in trouble today. Considering how well Gaudin is currently pitching and how the Giants' have some firepower to put Minor in trouble, I expect San Francisco to be competitive today. Therefore, I'll be taking them in here as underdogs on the runline.

MLB Premium Play 06/14: San Francisco Giants @ Atlanta Braves

MLB - 909 San Francisco Giants @ 910 Atlanta Braves

(Starting Pitchers: M. Bumgarner vs K. Medlen)

Even though the Giants are currently shorthanded, they are coming from back to back games at Pittsburgh where their offense exploded with .375 and .395 BA! Therefore, they are coming to this series at Atlanta with some momentum and hot bats! On the other hand, the Braves is coming from a series at San Diego, where they got swept! San Francisco will start Madison Bumgarner, who had a good bounce back on their last start at Arizona, with three runs allowed in five innings. He had five days off for tonight's outing, so he will fresh tonight. Atlanta's offense is currently struggling and they have been poor this season against LH pitchers by being just #17 on the league! So, no wonder that Bumgarner dominated the Braves earlier on this season with 1 run allowed in seven innings, while having a 11/2 K/BB ratio!

Atlanta will start Kris Medlen tonight, who has been improving lately with strong back to back outings against Pittsburgh and the Dodgers at LA, after struggling a lot early on the season. He didn't allow a single run on these two outings, while having a 6/1 and 6/0 K/BB ratios! But note that Pittsburgh is #23 on the league versus RH pitchers with .684 OPS, while the Dodgers are #25 in the league with a .678 OPS! So, Medlen had great matchups on his last two starts, something that won't happen tonight, as San Francisco is #13 versus RH pitchers with a .727 OPS! Unlike Bumgarner, Medlen has already faced the Giants twice this season and he struggle in both games. In fact, the Giants' roster is hitting .357 BA and 1.176 OPS against Medlen on 42 At Bats! Looking at San Francisco's good momentum, a pitching edge and a better matchup, I expect the Giants to pick up a nice road win tonight.

MLB Premium Play 06/13: San Francisco Giants @ Pittsburgh Pirates

MLB - 957 San Francisco Giants @ 958 Pittsburgh Pirates

(Starting Pitchers: M. Cain vs C. Morton)

The Pirates crushed the Giants on the first two games of this series by taking advantage of San Francisco starting Tim Lincecum and Barry Zito, who are currently struggling. The Giants will start Matt Cain tonight and even though he is currently posting a season ERA of 5.09, he has been pitching much better lately and he actually has a nice matchup against the Pirates tonight. Cain has posted five quality starts on his last seven outings, including his last start against the tough Dbacks at Arizona, where he allowed just one run over seven innings. His two poor starts were at Colorado (hitter-friendly park) and at St Louis (who is a horrible for him). Besides that, Cain has been looking impressive lately. Pittsburgh's offense is just ranked #24 and his current record is just hitting .165 BA and .477 OPS in 115 AB's against Cain. Therefore, I expect Cain to have another quality start tonight.

On the other hand, the Pirates will start Charlie Morton, on his first start of the season. He is coming from Tommy John surgery and he threw just 19 innings on the minor leagues to get ready for this start. In my opinion, that isn't enough for him to be sharp and dominate on the Majors. With Morton under pressure tonight, I expect the Giants to be fired up tonight to avoid a series sweep. Considering the Giants' considerable SP edge for tonight, I like them in here to win tonight's game and avoiding getting swept on this series.

MLB Premium Play 05/24: Colorado Rockies @ San Francisco Giants

MLB - 963 Colorado Rockies @ 964 San Francisco Giants

(Starting Pitchers: T. Chatwood vs T. Lincecum)

This is a rematch from six days ago, with these two teams faced each other in Colorado, while starting these two pitchers as well. Tim Lincecum got absolutely crushed in that outing by allowing six runs and seven hits in five innings, while having a 4/2 K/BB ratio. Lincecum has been pitching better at home than on the road this season mostly due to a much better HR/9 mark: 0.68 vs 1.33 on the road! However, winds will be blowing out to center field at 10-15 mph tonight, so he should get into trouble even though this game will be played at San Francisco. This will be Lincecum's third start of the season against the Rockies and he allowed six runs each on the first two games!

On the other hand, the Rockies will start Tyler Chatwood and even though that he won the decision six days ago, he was quite lucky with just one run allowed in 5.2 innings, as he allowed seven hits and had a 4/4 K/BB ratio! With him having his second start of the season against the Giants tonight, who happens to be #7 in the league in hitting against RH pitchers this season with a .764 OPS, I believe he will struggle much more than he did at Colorado last week. Therefore, I see this game being a relatively high scoring game and so, I'll be taking the Over in here.
