NBA - 503 Oklahoma City Thunder @ 504 San Antonio Spurs
Projected Line: 202 points
***DOUBLE DIME PLAY***
The spot for Oklahoma City tonight is tough, as they will play their fourth game in five days, even though they played an 1PM EST game yesterday. However, with Russell Westbrook playing with a banged up ankle, the spot is still a problem for the Thunder tonight. On the other hand, San Antonio is coming from the worst defensive game of the AT&T Center era! Portland had an offensive rating of 145.7 and this represents of the worst defensive performances of the season for any team in the league and the fact that it was San Antonio that had such terrible defensive performance shows how weird that was, as the Spurs are a Top 5 team in the league in terms of overall defense! Portland's offense dominated the Spurs on pick and rolls, post ups, spot ups and even transitions! There isn't much more to say about this game, barring the fact that San Antonio will surely show a much bigger defensive effort tonight, especially against a rival like Oklahoma City.
So, we will have in here the Thunder on a bad physical spot facing the Spurs looking for a defensive bounce back. It's important to mention that Tony Parker is still out, while Russell Westbrook is playing banged up with an ankle injury, so both teams are also limited on the PG position right now. Matchup wise, all the attention is focused on how great these two teams are on offense, with Oklahoma City having Kevin Durant and San Antonio having a well oiled offensive machine, but we are also in presence of two elite defensive teams, as San Antonio is #3 in the league on overall defense and #2 in the league on rim defense with 59.7% FG allowed, while Oklahoma City is #8 in the league on overall defense and #4 in the league on rim defense with 60.8% FG allowed. Therefore, I don't expect a lot of easy points to be scored tonight. The Spurs are also an elite defensive team on 3pts and with this combined with their defensive bounce back spot and Oklahoma City's poor spot, this is really a great spot for San Antonio to show the league that they are indeed a great defensive team. On the other side, the Spurs without Tony Parker lose their ability to attack the rim. The Thunder's defense has been improving throughout the season on transition defense and this will also limit the Spurs's offense.
The current line of 207.5 points would be acceptable if both teams were in good spots and 100% healthy, something that isn't even close to be the case tonight. Therefore, I'll be taking the Under in here on a Double Dime Play!
