NBA Premium Play 03/10: Cleveland Cavaliers @ Toronto Raptors

NBA - 805 Cleveland Cavaliers @ 806 Toronto Raptors

Projected Line: 198 points | Toronto by 2 points

You only need to watch one game of the Raptors to notice how absurd is the number of contested jump shots that they attempt per game. Of course that they are able to have a good offensive game here and there, but this will be just an exception to the rule that says that it's not long term viable to take so many bad shots on a game. Rudy Gay is the champion on this particular area, as he shot 7-26 FG against the Lakers on the team's last game. Fortunately for them, the other Raptors's guards had big numbers and Toronto managed to be competitive.

Toronto will have a very physical tough spot tonight, as I remember you that they played Friday at LA at 10:30PM EST, on a game that went to overtime, and they needed to make a huge trip to go back home just to face Cleveland tonight on an early 6PM EST. Let's also not forget about the time change, so they had even one less hour to prepare for this game. This is a tough spot to battle for any team let alone a team that has no flow on offense and takes way too many bad perimeter shots.

On the other hand, Cleveland is a competitive team as long as Kyrie Irving is playing. The Cavaliers won only one of their last three games, but they faced three teams with positive records in the Knicks, Utah and Memphis. All games were relatively close until down the stretch, where the Knicks and the Grizzlies outplayed them. However, the Raptors is nowhere near the level of Cleveland's previous three opponents. Cleveland's offense has a much better chemistry than Toronto's, especially down the stretch where they have a true elite player in Kyrie Irving. On the other hand, the Raptors rely on Rudy Gay down the stretch, who generally shoots bricks after bricks. The last game played between these two teams saw the Cavaliers playing on a back to back spot against a rested Raptors team and Cleveland was still able to comfortably win the game, even though Kyrie Irving didn't play!

For tonight, I expect Cleveland to be super competitive and I wouldn't be surprised at all if they win this game outright. There is no way Toronto should be favored by almost 6 points to win this contest. With a poor spot and no offensive flow, I also believe Toronto's offense gives us a good edge on the Under as well. Cleveland's defense struggles a bit against teams that have powerful dominating frontcourts like Memphis, but that's not the case of Toronto, whose offensive game is almost all perimeter-based. Therefore, I'll be taking both the Cavaliers and the Under in here tonight.
