As much as Houston is a potent offensive team, they are quite the opposite on defense, especially on transitions and stopping the opposing guards from penetrating into the basket. Both Jeremy Lin and especially James Harden simply aren't focused on defense and so, the Rockets are a poor defensive team. They'll now face a Dallas team that are a tough team to beat in fast paced games, as they are #4 in transitions, #6 in pick and roll ball handlers and #4 in pick and roll roll man plays. So, it isn't a big surprise that Dallas is 2-0 against Houston this season.
Dirk Nowitzki is slowly getting back into form and he will have an excellent matchup against the inexperienced rookie Donatas Motiejunas. Dallas will also have an edge in terms of second unit, as while the Rockets only have Carlos Delfino and Patrick Beverley as decent options in the bench, the Mavericks have Vince Carter, Elton Brand, Mike James and Jae Crowder. Right now, with Dirk Nowitzki playing at 70% of his level, the Mavericks and the Rockets have a similar level. Therefore, I see a lot of value on the Mavericks tonight and so, I'll be taking them in here.
