On their first two games of the season against Houston, Golden State allowed 140 and 116 points, so their task for last night's game was to defend better! The final score of the game shows us that both defenses played well, but note that the score was 21-17 for the Warriors with just six minutes played in the game! David Lee was torching Houston, while the Rockets were scoring a lot of contested treys. But after that moment, both teams defended much better.

I hadn't seen the Warriors showing so much effort on defense for a while. They were trapping James Harden hard, who ended the game with 3-17 FG. They rebounded well on their own glass and they protected the rim quite well, as Houston scored just 22 points at the paint. However, I think that they spent so much energy on defense that they were unable to execute things well on the offensive end. There was merit for the Rockets's defense as well, but in my opinion Golden State was very tired down the stretch. It was weird/funny to see how Andrew Bogut was completely dead tired with no gas on his legs whatsoever. Oddly enough, Bogut shot 1-5 FG with his only FG made being a three pointer!
Houston won the game down the stretch because they were able to shut down the Warriors's offense. The big merit for that goes to Omer Asik, who shutdown David Lee, while the Rockets were aggressive on the final quarter with 12 FT attempts, while the Warriors had just 4 attempts.
