MLB - 913 Texas Rangers @ 914 Baltimore Orioles
(Starting Pitchers: D. Holland vs S. Feldman)
First of all, it's important to mention that Baltimore is facing a LH pitcher tonight and they have been terrible as of late with .200 BA on their last 10 games versus LH pitchers! The Orioles' split offensive stats are ridiculous: #5 in wRC+ versus RH pitchers; #22 versus LH pitchers! Texas will start Derek Holland and he is coming from allowing two earned runs in six innings against Seattle. Holland has now 17 strikeouts in his last 15 innings, with his ERA coming down to a great 3.13 ERA! He struggled just once on his last six outings, on a start against Toronto, when they were on a 11-game winning streak. The last time Holland had a great matchup, he dominated the Knicks with a complete game shutout! It's also important to note that Holland has faced the Orioles twice earlier on this season and he allowed just three and zero earned runs in those outings! Therefore, I expect Holland to have another good outing tonight.
On the other hand, Scott Feldman is coming from his first outing for Baltimore where he allowed two runs against the White Sox over six innings. Feldman had some shaky starts for the Cubs in June and even though he had a nice debut for the Orioles, he has been pitching far from Holland's current awesome level. In fact, every time Feldman faces top ranked teams, he struggles with a 5.07 FIP versus Cincinnati and 6.26 FIP versus the Cardinals! Feldman faced Texas at home in May and he shut them down over seven innings. However, his recent advanced numbers suggest some regression soon: having a 11.8% HR/FB while pitching at Baltimore is very dangerous! I believe the Rangers will have a pitching edge today, while the Orioles won't have an offensive edge tonight, as they will be facing a LH pitcher. Therefore, I like Texas tonight to pick up a nice road win in here.
