NBA - 709 Atlanta Hawks @ 710 Denver Nuggets
Projected Line: 216 points
Atlanta played much better last night at LA against the Lakers than they had on their previous game at Phoenix. As expected, they had a clear edge in transitions against the slow footed Lakers with 24 fast break points and they also shot 50% FG! Curiously, the Hawks had a subpar game from Jeff Teague, who couldn't take advantage of the good speed edge that he had over Steve Nash by shooting just 3-13 FG! The game was super fast, but that wasn't translated into a lot of points due to the very high number of turnovers, with the Lakers committing 21 turnovers, while Atlanta was terrible on free throw shooting with just 8-15!
For tonight, the Hawks will be on a poor spot and it isn't easy to play at Denver on a bounce back spot. The Nuggets at home and with their depth, they will simply push up the tempo to worn out Atlanta. The Hawks has the same style as the Nuggets in terms of their mindset of attacking in transition and that's clear on their volume percentage of transition points: Denver is #1 in the league with 18.4%, while Atlanta is #4 with 16.4%! George Karl will definitely use some of his small ball lineups to run up and down the court and this will prevent Larry Drew from using Zaza Pachulia and Johan Petro a lot tonight. We have two explosive teams going head to head tonight. Denver won't have a lot of defensive intensity tonight, as they will force the Hawks to play at their insane pace tonight, knowing that later in the game, Denver will have an extra great to outscore Atlanta down the stretch. Therefore, I expect a very high scoring tonight and so, I'll be taking the Over in here.
