It's not usual to give such edge on a team who is 4-19 and playing on the road, but I think New Orleans has a technical edge on this game and especially, I believe this is a flat spot for Detroit and with the bigger effort from the Hornets, I believe New Orleans is into a comfortable win tonight! Yesterday, Detroit delivered a big effort against Milwaukee, who was at the same time a pathetic team with no desire to compete! Detroit gave it all to win and their starting lineup played 38, 37, 38, 30 and 39 minutes! Detroit struggled as usual on hitting outside shots: 1-9 FG 10-15 feet, 5-19 FG from 16-23 feet and 4-14 3pts, with their huge inside game saving them with 18-25 FG at the rim and 6-14 FG from 3-9 feet. These aren't usual numbers for the Pistons, as they are just averaging 58% FG at the rim and 32% FG from 3-9 feet this season, which clearly demonstrates the lack of effort from the Bucks last night.
For tonight, I don't expect Detroit to be able to duplicate the effort they had yesterday and they will have a bad matchup against the Hornets. Detroit's key yesterday was scoring from the inside and the Hornets have a good frontcourt with Okafor, Smith, Landry and now Kaman in a good moment as well! Jarrett Jack is out for tonight, but Vazquez has been a serviceable backup and he will do a fine job tonight. From all the possible 4-19 teams, New Orleans must be the best ever because their point differential is just -5.5, while Detroit has a season point differential of -10.1 for example!
We are in front of two teams who play at a really slow pace (DET #30 & NOH #28) and so, this will be played at an extremely slow pace, with the Hornets getting the upperhand due to a bigger effort and a clear frontcourt edge, which should allow them to control the glass and limit the Pistons inside game. Detroit has no depth and so, I believe New Orleans will comfortably win this game and so, I'll take them in here. On such a slow pace and with the Hornets completely locking down the Pistons offense, I'm also taking the under on this game as well.
