MLB Premium Play 08/14: Detroit Tigers @ Chicago White Sox

MLB - 965 Detroit Tigers @ 966 Chicago White Sox

(Starting Pitchers: R. Porcello vs J. Danks)

***DOUBLE DIME PLAY***

Detroit have lost their last three games and yesterday they made some poor mistakes, as only two of the four runs that the White Sox scored were earned. Rick Porcello will start for the Tigers tonight and he has been very solid lately. However, he struggled a bit on his last outing at NY against the Yankees, with three earned runs in five innings. He faced the White Sox twice recently and he looked good in both games. He has been solid lately, so I expect him to have another decent outing tonight.

On the other side, John Danks will start for the White Sox and he is coming from allowing three runs in six innings against Minnesota last Friday. He had a season high five walks in that outing and he has been heavily prone to allowing home runs with 21 allowed in 95.2 innings! Danks allowed three home runs on each of his last two games against Detroit. This combination of poor control and HR prone issues will make him get pounded against a fired up Tigers lineup. Detroit will try to avoid a sweep today and I expect them to achieve that with an easy win in here. I'm taking the Tigers today on a Double Dime Play!

MLB Premium Play 08/13: Detroit Tigers @ Chicago White Sox

MLB - 919 Detroit Tigers @ 920 Chicago White Sox

(Starting Pitchers: M. Scherzer vs H. Santiago)

This is a good bounce back spot for Detroit tonight, after losing the first game of the series last night. The Tigers will face Hector Santiago tonight, who is coming from a start where he was terrible against the Yankees, with 6.35 ERA, 6.93 FIP and 4.77 xFIP! This was strange, as he was coming from a nice start at Detroit! This will be the third time in three weeks that Santiago will face the Tigers and with no surprise factor whatsoever, the elite offense of the Tigers will crush Santiago tonight.

On the other hand, Max Scherzer will try to get another win tonight. He has been easily winning his outings with the help of great run support, so his maximum number of pitches on his last four outings was 107 pitches! He allowed just 0 and 2 earned runs on his first two games of the series against the White Sox this season and I don't expect things to be any different tonight. I believe Detroit will pick up an easy win tonight and so, I'll be taking them on the runline in here.

MLB Premium Play 08/10: Detroit Tigers @ New York Yankees

MLB - 963 Detroit Tigers @ 964 New York Yankees

(Starting Pitchers: A. Sanchez vs P. Hughes)

The Yankees won yesterday's game, where the star was Ivan Nova, who dominated! Nova is a groundball pitcher, but he was able to have 7 strikeouts against Detroit! But things will be different today, as Phil Hughes will start for the Yankees and he is coming from allowing ten earned runs in a combined of 6.2 innings in his last two starts! He is a flyball pitcher and with him pitching at NY in home games, he tends to get pounded by the long ball. He can have nice 10/1 K/BB command performances like he had against Minnesota, but that doesn't matter when he allows three homeruns at the same time! Hughes will now face Detroit in bounce back mode and they'll pound him today.

Anibal Sanchez will start for the Tigers and even though he has been decent since returning from the DL, including an excellent start against Cleveland on his last start, where he allow two earned runs in 7.2 innings, while having a 11/2 K/BB ratio! With Sanchez back at a great level, he won't have problem with a Yankees' lineup that had problems yesterday even though they were facing a struggling Rick Porcello with 2-15 RISP! Therefore, I expect an easy win for the Tigers today.

MLB Premium Play 08/09: Detroit Tigers @ New York Yankees

MLB - 921 Detroit Tigers @ 922 New York Yankees

(Starting Pitchers: R. Porcello vs I. Nova)

The Yankees will start Ivan Nova tonight and he has been amazing lately, with 0, 1, 3, 1 and 2 earned runs allowed, while throwing some perfect groundballs, something very important while facing Detroit. Nova had 5 days of rest prior to this game and he threw just 86 pitches on his last start. Therefore, I believe he will be able to have a nice outing tonight against the Tigers.

Detroit will start Rick Porcello tonight and he has been clearly weaker against LH batters this season. The Tigers won't have Alex Avila on the lineup tonight, with Bryan Pena getting the start on his place. The Tigers won't have the starting 2B or the starting catcher tonight on the lineup, José Iglesias is new on the team, while Miguel Cabrera and Prince Fielder are poor defenders, so Detroit will be prone to some lousy defense tonight. Porcello has been allowing .303 BA, .342 wOBA and 3.96 FIP versus LH batters this season and therefore, the Yankees will present the following lineup tonight:

1. Brett Gardner (L) CF
2. Ichiro Suzuki (L) RF
3. Robinson Cano (L) 2B
4. Alfonso Soriano (R) DH
5. Alex Rodriguez (R) 3B
6. Curtis Granderson (L) LF
7. Lyle Overbay (L) 1B
8. Eduardo Nunez (R) SS
9. Chris Stewart (R) C

I believe the Yankees have a great spot for a big win tonight and so, I'll be taking them in here.

MLB Premium Play 08/06: Detroit Tigers @ Cleveland Indians

MLB - 963 Detroit Tigers @ 964 Cleveland Indians

(Starting Pitchers: J. Verlander vs J. Masterson)

Detroit will start Justin Verlander tonight and he allowed just one run in six innings against the Nationals last Wednesday. However, his command has been atrocious lately, with 6/5, 4/2, 3/4 and 3/3 K/BB on his last four outings! This is causing him to have high P/IP counts with 17.2, 17.2 and 18.7 on his last three starts! Thanks to this, Verlander's advanced numbers have been poor with a 4.19 ERA, 4.46 FIP and 4.97 xFIP in July! To make things even worse for him, he faced three poor teams on his last three outings (WAS #25; CWS #28; KC #26) and he still struggled in those games! Now against Cleveland, I expect Verlander to have lots of problems.

Justin Masterson will start for the Indians and he is coming from holding the White Sox to just one run in 6.2 innings last Wednesday. He is also coming from a favorable schedule on his last three starts, but unlike Verlander, he dominated with 1, 0 and 1 earned runs allowed, while having a 7/3, 8/1 and 8/0 K/BB! Therefore, this is a great bounce back spot for Cleveland tonight, with a better SP in the mount. I'll be taking the Indians in here.

MLB Premium Play 08/04: Chicago White Sox @ Detroit Tigers

MLB - 961 Chicago White Sox @ 962 Detroit Tigers

(Starting Pitchers: A. Rienzo vs R. Porcello)

NOTE: No Writeup for this play

Pick: 3 units (Single Dime Play) on 961 Chicago White Sox RL +1.5 (w/ A. Rienzo) @ -110 / 1.91 on Bookmaker

MLB Premium Play 08/03: Chicago White Sox @ Detroit Tigers

MLB - 915 Chicago White Sox @ 916 Detroit Tigers

(Starting Pitchers: J. Danks vs M. Scherzer)

Detroit will start Max Scherzer tonight, who threw six scoreless innings against Philadelphia last Saturday. He is super fresh for tonight, as he had six days of rest and he threw just 75 pitches on his last game! Therefore, I expect him to continue his dominant season tonight with another quality outing against the lowly White Sox.

On the other side, John Danks will start for the White Sox and he is coming from two runs (one earned) allowed against Cleveland last Monday. This isn't being a good season for Danks, who has a lot of red flags around him: .269 BA, 18.1 HR/FB% and a 5.04 FIP. Even with Miguel Cabrera out of Detroit's lineup tonight, I still expect Detroit to pound Danks tonight, just like they did it a bit more than a week ago, when Danks allowed six earned runs in seven innings against them. I believe Scherzer will dominate tonight, while Danks will struggle a lot, therefore I expect an easy win for Detroit in here and so, I'll be taking them on the runline.

MLB Premium Play 08/02: Chicago White Sox @ Detroit Tigers

MLB - 963 Chicago White Sox @ 964 Detroit Tigers

(Starting Pitchers: H. Santiago vs D. Fister)

Hector Santiago will start for the White Sox tonight and he is coming from two runs allowed in 6.2 innings against Kansas City last Sunday. He has been solid lately, but he had four favorable opponents on his last six games. So, only two of those six starts were against tough opponents (Detroit and Cleveland) and he got pounded in both these games! He allowed five earned runs in 2.1 innings against the Indians, while against the Tigers, Santiago allowed three earned runs, while having a terrible 6/5 K/BB ratio! Detroit had an off day to rest yesterday, so they will be rested to pound Santiago tonight.

Detroit will start Doug Fister, who is coming from allowing one unearned run against Philadelphia last Friday. He made some minor mechanical adjustments during the All Star break and these changes are working very well for now, as he had three solid starts on his first three games of the second half of the season! He allowed just 0, 1 and 2 earned runs on these outings, while having a good 16/4 K/BB ratio and tonight while the struggling White Sox offense (#29 L7 days & #27 L14 days), I believe Fister will dominate once again tonight. Therefore, I expect an easy win for Detroit in here and so, I'll be taking them on the runline.

MLB Premium Play 07/30: Washington Nationals @ Detroit Tigers

MLB - 927 Washington Nationals @ 928 Detroit Tigers

(Starting Pitchers: S. Strasburg vs A. Sanchez)

***DOUBLE DIME PLAY***

This is a game between two good SP's, but Anibal Sanchez hasn't been very sharp since he returned from the DL, with his FIP being higher than his ERA on his last four starts, where he faced struggling offenses like Kansas City and the White Sox. Washington is coming from a nice series against the Mets, where they regained some hitting form: Wilson Ramos is back at 100%, Bryce Harper looked good as well, while Denard Span also hit some homeruns. On the other side, the Nationals will start Stephen Strasburg, who had a disaster game right before the All Star break at Miami, but then he bounced back very well with dominating outings against the Dodgers and Pittsburgh, with a combined of 18/1 K/BB! This will be his first start against Detroit, while Sanchez is a well-known opponent of the Nationals, as he used to play for Florida/Miami. I believe Washington has a great chance for the upset tonight and so, I'll be taking them in here in a Double Dime Play!

MLB Premium Play 07/28: Philadelphia Phillies @ Detroit Tigers

MLB - 929 Philadelphia Phillies @ 930 Detroit Tigers

(Starting Pitchers: J. Pettibone vs R. Porcello)

Rick Porcello will start for Detroit today and he is coming from allowing no runs over seven innings against the White Sox last Tuesday. He has been insanely good in July with a 1.35 ERA, well supported by a 3.14 FIP and 3.54 xFIP! He dominated the White Sox twice in a row and before that, he had also dominated the tough Rays and Indians! After some struggles earlier in the season, Porcello made some great adjustments and he will now have a favorable matchup against the Phillies, as Porcello only struggles against LH batters (.304 BA and .338 wOBA), but the Phillies will only have Jimmy Rollins and Chase Utley as decent LH batters in the lineup today:

1. Jimmy Rollins (S) SS
2. Michael Young (R) 3B
3. Chase Utley (L) DH
4. Darin Ruf (R) 1B
5. Kevin Frandsen (R) 2B
6. John Mayberry (R) CF
7. Laynce Nix (L) RF
8. Carlos Ruiz (R) C
9. Steve Susdorf (L) LF

Besides that, Philadelphia's offense is currently struggling badly by being #29 in the league over the past week, so Porcello has every condition to another great outing in here. On the other side, Jonathan Pettibone is coming from three runs allowed against St Louis last Tuesday. Pettibone has been overall decent, but he has some red flags as well. He is too hittable with a .270 BA and he also had some poor control lately, with 3, 4, 1 and 3 walks over his last four outings. Detroit's offense is #1 in the league on hitting with .279 BA and if Pettibone starts walking batters today, he will be quickly pounded in here. Therefore, I expect another easy win for the Tigers today and so, I'll be taking them on the runline in here.

MLB Premium Play 07/27: Philadelphia Phillies @ Detroit Tigers

MLB - 979 Philadelphia Phillies @ 980 Detroit Tigers

(Starting Pitchers: R. Valdes vs M. Scherzer)

This match is a complete mismatch favoring Detroit. The Tigers will start Max Scherzer, who finally lost a decision right before the All Star break, but he bounced back very well at Chicago against the White Sox on his first start after the break with two earned runs allowed in eight innings, while having a great 5/0 K/BB command! Scherzer is a Cy Young contender and he should have no problems against the struggling Phillies' lineup. Philadelphia had a decent offensive run when they had four decent batters who were hitting from the left side on the lineup at the same time (Revere, Utley, Rollins and Brown), but with Brown and Revere injured, Philadelphia's offense collapsed and they are #26 in the league over the last 7 days!

On the other side, Raul Valdes will start for the Phillies, replacing Cliff Lee. He is a LH pitcher who will face a team that is #3 on hitting versus LH pitchers this season and #1 at home! After 21.1 innings played coming from the bullpen, Valdes has a poor 7.59 ERA with a BA above .300! I doubt that he will go deep in tonight's game, as he lacks stamina for that and he will struggle as well. Thanks to that, Philadelphia's poor bullpen (#28 in the league) will be exposed by the Tigers' top offense. Therefore, I expect a complete domination from the Tigers tonight and so, I'll be taking them on the runline in here.

MLB Premium Play 07/12: Texas Rangers @ Detroit Tigers

MLB - 915 Texas Rangers @ 916 Detroit Tigers

(Starting Pitchers: J. Grimm vs D. Fister)

Detroit struggled yesterday against Chris Sale (#6 in the league), but they will now face a much worse SP in Justin Grimm (#128 in the league)! Grimm is coming from six subpar performances in a row and if I understand his struggles against Seattle's red hot offense, the truth is that he also allowed four earned runs and had 2/2 K/BB ratio against Houston and that's terrible news. Grimm's problem is that he is too hittable and he is allowing .299 BA! That's bad news for him as Detroit is #1 in the league with .281 BA! Detroit is coming from a losing series against the White Sox, so they will be super fired up today and they'll crush the struggling Grimm.

Doug Fister will start for the Tigers and he is posting a 7.66 ERA over his past four starts. The only good news for him is that he had the toughest strength of schedule of the whole league over the last three and six starts! Fister faced Cleveland, Toronto, the LA Angels and Boston on his last four outings! Texas's offense is far from the top of the league (#14 for the season; #18 over the last 14 days), so I believe Fister will bounce back tonight. I believe that the combination of Detroit's lineup crushing Grimm and Fister bouncing back against Texas, I believe that the Tigers will pick up an easy win tonight. I'm taking Detroit in here.

MLB Premium Play 07/10: Chicago White Sox @ Detroit Tigers

MLB - 917 Chicago White Sox @ 918 Detroit Tigers

(Starting Pitchers: D. Axelrod vs R. Porcello)

***DOUBLE DIME PLAY***

This is a good bounce back spot for Detroit, after getting humiliated last night. The White Sox will start Dylan Axelrod tonight, who allowed five earned runs (two home runs) in 1.2 innings at Tampa Bay on his last outing. This bad start is just the culmination of his terrible moment. He has struggled in five of his last six starts, while ending June with a 7.53 FIP and 5.59 xFIP. Now against the great Tigers' offense, he is going to get crushed.

On the other hand, Rick Porcello will start for Detroit tonight and he is one of the most underrated pitchers in the league. He may have a 4.93 ERA, but his 3.56 FIP and 3.13 xFIP show that he has been quite unlucky this season. He had back to back poor outings against Baltimore and the LA Angels, but these two teams are ranked #5 and #4 respectively on hitting versus RH pitchers this season, while the White Sox are #28. Therefore, I expect Porcello to pitch well tonight, allowing the Tigers to have an easy win in here. I'm taking Detroit on the runline tonight on a Double Dime Play!

MLB Premium Play 07/03: Detroit Tigers @ Toronto Blue Jays

MLB - 963 Detroit Tigers @ 964 Toronto Blue Jays

(Starting Pitchers: M. Scherzer vs J. Johnson)

Toronto will start Josh Johnson tonight, who was starting to show his best baseball lately, until he faced two elite offensive teams on his last two starts and struggled. However, even on those games, he had decent advanced numbers with 1.86 FIP + 3.98 xFIP and 4.06 FIP + 3.07 xFIP! Thanks to this, Johnson ended June with a 3.27 FIP and 3.14 xFIP! Excellent numbers! Johnson faced the Tigers on the road in early April and he got crushed with six runs allowed in just 1.1 innings! He has some weird numbers versus RH batters (.326 BA, .418 wOBA, 5.43 FIP and 4.48 xFIP), but it's true that he is underrated right now with a 5.21 ERA, but a 3.82 FIP! Therefore, I expect him to be able to have a decent outing tonight.

On the other side, Max Scherzer will start for the Tigers tonight and he has been simply amazing this season. According to my metrics, he faced four above average offensive teams on his last six starts and his average FIP- on these four games was 56 (100 is the average; the less a pitcher has, the better)! Of course Toronto is a very strong hitting team at home, but Max seems ready to face any opponent this season! Therefore, I can only expect Scherzer to have another good outing in here. Considering we will have on this game a top 3 pitcher in the league and a very underrated Josh pitching on this matchup, I expect tonight's game to be a much lower scoring affair than the offensive explosions that happened on the first two games of the series. Therefore, I'll be taking the Under in here.

MLB Premium Play 07/02: Detroit Tigers @ Toronto Blue Jays

MLB - 913 Detroit Tigers @ 914 Toronto Blue Jays

(Starting Pitchers: D. Fister vs C. Wang)

***DOUBLE DIME PLAY - SPLIT THE WAGER***

Toronto crushed Detroit yesterday on Canada Day, on a game where the Blue Jays had an evident SP edge. Things will be very different tonight. Toronto will start Chien-Ming Wang, who had two great starts at Texas and against Baltimore, but then he exploded at Boston. Wang is allowing .322 BA this season and with just a 4.35 K/9 rate, I don't see how he will avoid getting crushed by the Tigers today. Detroit is #2 on wOBA with .338 and they are #1 in the league on K% with 16.7%, so they are a horrible matchup for Wang.

On the other side, Doug Fister will start for the Tigers tonight and he had an excellent bounce back against the Angels, after struggling against Boston. The Tigers lost that game against the Angels, but Fister allowed just one earned run in seven innings. Fister faced four good offenses on his last five starts and his last three outings were indeed against elite offenses over the last month: LA Angels #3, Boston #2 and Minnesota #6. Therefore, we can sat that Fister will be well tested to face the Blue Jays tonight. We have a clear SP edge in here favoring Detroit, with a slight offensive edge favoring the Tigers as well. So, I'll be taking Detroit tonight on a Double Dime Play. Split the wager.

MLB Premium Play 06/29: Detroit Tigers @ Tampa Bay Rays

MLB - 971 Detroit Tigers @ 972 Tampa Bay Rays

(Starting Pitchers: J. Verlander vs C. Archer)

Justin Verlander will start for Detroit tonight and his season isn't being very good, especially in comparison to his performances on the previous seasons. However, he faced four top offenses (Boston, Baltimore, Cleveland, Baltimore again) on his last five games, so his schedule isn't being easy at all. Tampa Bay's offense has been struggling as of late with just one game on his last ten where they hit better than .300 BA! With Evan Longoria out tonight, things will get even tougher for the Rays, so I expect Verlander to dominate in here.

The Rays will be starting Chris Archer tonight, who has been also having a tough schedule by facing the Yankees on the road, the Red Sox on the road, then Boston and Baltimore at home and Cleveland on the road! His problem have been the walks and of course, the high pitch counts. This will be very tough for him, as Detroit is a top team in both BB% and K%, so they will wait for Archer to make some errors and walk some batters. With Verlander dominating on the other side, I expect the Tigers to pick up an easy win in here.

MLB Premium Play 06/26: Los Angeles Angels @ Detroit Tigers

MLB - 913 Los Angeles Angels @ 914 Detroit Tigers

(Starting Pitchers: T. Hanson vs J. Alvarez)

This is a tremendous revenge + bounce back game for Detroit in here. They are 0-7 on their last 7 games against the Angels and they got humiliated yesterday, with the LA team scoring a season high of runs. So, the Tigers will come for tonight's game fired up and they have a great chance to start the game quite well with Jose Alvarez pitching for them. He is coming from two spot starts already in June, with him being competent in both of them with two and one runs allowed. But what I liked was the fact that he did that against Cleveland and Boston, two of the strongest offenses in the league! Alvarez is just giving sequence to his good numbers at the Minors and he will have a surprise factor tonight favoring him, as the Angels don't know him. Besides that, the LA team is just #25 in the league in hitting versus LH pitchers!

On the other hand, the Angels will start Tommy Hanson, who had a good run lately, but he gets pounded everytime he faces a top team. His last start was a disaster, with him allowing seven runs on two innings against Seattle, while he pitched just five innings at Boston, where he had to throw 114 pitches: a 22.8 P/IP! I believe the fired up Tigers will crush them today since the start of the game. I expect the Tigers to come fired up tonight and take an early lead in the game, so I'll take Detroit on the first five innings of the game in here.

MLB Premium Play 06/17: Baltimore Orioles @ Detroit Tigers

MLB - 963 Baltimore Orioles @ 964 Detroit Tigers

(Starting Pitchers: J. Arrieta vs M. Scherzer)

***DOUBLE DIME PLAY***

Baltimore will start Jake Arrieta today instead of Jason Hammel, who is currently sick. Arrieta struggled early on the season with a 6.63 ERA in four starts and then, he didn't pitch better at Triple-A Norfolk with a 5.50 ERA. He will now play at Detroit, so I wouldn't be surprised if Arrieta gets completely crushed today, especially as he allowed a combined of 15 earned runs on his last two starts at the Minors!

The Tigers will start Max Scherzer and he is fired up to try to become the first start in Franchise history to open a season 10-0. Scherzer has been looking excellent as of late and he had 5 days off for today. He has been amazing on this kind of spot with 2.17 ERA, .415 OPS allowed and a 8.5 K/BB ratio! He faced the Orioles on the last day of May and he allowed three runs in eight innings, a good start against a nice offensive team like Baltimore. He also struck out 10 batters in that outing. The Orioles will be on a mini letdown spot tonight after a big series against Boston this weekend, so it's possible that Scherzer will have another good outing in here. If we add to that the massive edge that Detroit's lineup will have against Arrieta, we can only expect the Tigers to grab a comfortable win tonight. I'm taking Detroit in here on a Double Dime Play!

MLB Premium Play 06/16: Detroit Tigers @ Minnesota Twins

MLB - 919 Detroit Tigers @ 920 Minnesota Twins

(Starting Pitchers: D. Fister vs P. Walters)

Detroit's offense has lost a bit of its fire lately, especially on the road. This is why they are 22-10 at home, but just 15-19 in away games! Doug Fister will pitch for them and even though he hasn't been brilliant on his last four starts, he did more than enough to win decisions, but Detroit gave him no run support with just 2, 0, 0 and 2 runs scored in those games! Fister's command continues to be great and he is coming for today's game with 5 days of rest, so this is a good spot for him to dominate the Twins.

So, the key in here will be to know what P.J. Walters will do today. He made a considerable effort on his last two outings with 97 and 116 pitches thrown and this is especially important for today, as he had just 4 days of rest for today's game. Walters was decent on his last two starts, but they were against Philadelphia and Kansas City, two teams that are #17 and #29 in the league versus RH pitchers. On the other hand, Detroit is #7 on the league against RH pitchers. He was decent on a previous start against Detroit this season, with two runs allowed in five innings, with a 3/1 K/BB ratio. His lack of a strikeout punch is a problem for him, especially against a team that has such a great BA as Detroit, who is #1 in the league with .279 BA and #2 in the league in avoiding getting struck out with just 16.8% K%!

Considering Detroit's SP edge for today and their bounce back spot, I expect the Tigers to show up today and get a comfortable win in here.

MLB Premium Play 06/14: Detroit Tigers @ Minnesota Twins

MLB - 921 Detroit Tigers @ 922 Minnesota Twins

(Starting Pitchers: R. Porcello vs S. Diamond)

We have in here a tremendous SP mismatch favoring Detroit in my opinion. Rick Porcello may have a season ERA of 4.86, but he has been much better lately, while dominating some really powerful offenses! Look at his monthly evolution this season (FIP + xFIP):

March/April: 5.03 FIP; 4.47 xFIP
May: 3.25 FIP; 2.33 xFIP
June: 2.56 FIP; 2.19 xFIP

We can add to this his dominant performances against Cleveland (twice), Texas and Baltimore! His only poor start was in fact against Minnesota, where he allowed five runs in just five innings, so Porcello has a revenge spot tonight.

On the other side, Simon Diamond will start for the Twins and he's really struggling right now. He is coming from facing the worst hitting team in the league versus LH pitchers and Diamond still pitched for just five innings, as he allowed 10 hits and 6 runs against the Nationals! He is too hittable with .326 BA allowed and he also has a poor command, therefore he can be easily pounded by good hitting teams like Detroit, a team that is #2 in the league in hitting versus LH pitchers this season! Diamond has already faced the Tigers twice this season and he of course struggled with 13 hits allowed on two starts. Detroit looks ready to bounce back tonight after a losing series against the Royals and so, I'll be taking them in here.
