NBA - 509 Indiana Pacers @ 510 New Orleans Hornets
Projected line: 181 points | Indiana by 9 points
New Orleans has a really good coach, they put on a lot of hustle on their performances and the truth is that they are coming from a huge home win against Dallas last night, where even though the Mavs had a better eFG%, the Hornets still got the win via offensive rebounds and free throws! They will now face a very rested team of Indiana, who hasn't played since Tuesday, so I expect New Orleans to set a really slow pace for this game. These two teams faced each other before the All Star game and Indiana won on Overtime in a shootout with both teams shooting more than 50% FG, but on a slow pace of 87. The shooting effectiveness on that game came from the outside, with New Orleans shooting 13-24 FG from 16-23 feet and 9-21 3pts, while Indiana shot 7-14 FG from 16-23 feet and 7-19 3pts. I believe these numbers won't be repeated tonight, as we are talking about two poor outside shooting teams who can defend the perimeter quite well.
I believe Indiana will have a huge edge on the inside for this game. Hibbert will have a tough matchup against Kaman, but the rest of the frontcourt battle will clearly favor Indiana, with West and Hansbrough being likely to have good games tonight. The Pacers are on an excellent spot and considering how they struggled to beat the Hornets at home last week, I believe they will focused to beat the Hornets tonight. In that game, Ariza had his best game of the season by shooting 8-15 FG 21pts, while forcing a shutdown on Granger with 4-14 FG. With Ariza questionable for tonight, I expect the Pacers to have an extra edge in here as well. I believe Indiana will comfortably win this game tonight, which looks to be a slow paced one with both defenses giving at least some trouble to their opponents. So, I'll be taking both Indiana and the under in here.
