NBA Premium Play 03/13: Portland Trailblazers @ Indiana Pacers

NBA - 535 Portland Trailblazers @ 536 Indiana Pacers

Projected line: 181 points

***DOUBLE DIME PLAY***

After limiting Miami's offense to just 93 points in a game that went to overtime, Indiana simply couldn't stop Orlando in the following  day. We all know that Howard will have an edge over any player in the league, but if a defense can't stop both Howard and the Magic shooters, then they're toasted and this was exactly what happened to Indiana. Howard shot 11-15 FG while Orlando shot a combined of 8-19 FG from 16-23 feet and 10-27 3pts! For today, I expect a defensive bounce back game for the Pacers as Portland can have Aldridge in the frontcourt, but they lack a good outside shooting.

In fact, Portland is coming from a nice win at Washington, but their technical data wasn't very good, as they just dished 19 assists on the 40 FG they made in the game. The Blazers had a good inside game with 18-22 FG at the rim, but the terrible interior defense of the Wizards surely helped this achievement. Portland had a super volume on the outside with 15-28 FG from 16-23 feet and 4-17 3pts! As Indiana has been playing on a slow pace, a potential half court game will create problems to Portland to score due to their poor ball movement, besides the fact that the Pacers have an excellent interior defense.

On the other side, Indiana is #30 on assists per game! Portland's defense has been struggling lately, but they have some good defensive matchups for them with Granger vs Batum or Gerald vs George. We have also a good matchup in the frontcourt, as Hibbert has been struggling as he shot 31% FG in the last 5 games. Indiana is a team that likes to use a lot of post up plays with 17.5% volume, while being #10 in efficiency with 0.84 PPP, however Portland's defense is #1 in the league in defending this kind of play by allowing just 0.73 PPP!

This is definitely a matchup that promises a slow paced game with some good defense and struggling offense from both teams, besides the spot of both teams who should be putting an extra effort, as Indiana is coming from a very bad defensive game against Orlando and Portland has also struggled on defense for a while now. Therefore, I came up with a projection line of 181 points, so I'll take the Under in here in a Double Dime Play!
