NBA - 801 New Jersey Nets @ 802 Orlando Magic
Projected line: Orlando by 15 points
The whole Howard soap opera is now finished for this season and so, the Magic should be now more focused from now on. They have been facing some top teams lately and with good results actually, as they defeated Chicago, Indiana and Miami, before losing at San Antonio, in a really bad spot for them. Even on that game against the Spurs, Orlando did quite well offensively, as Nelson has been playing his best basketball of the season, while Ryan Anderson continues to have an excellent season. Their rebounding has also been very good and they did very well on P&R ball handler plays against the Spurs with Hedo and Nelson shooting 12-19 FG on this kind of play! With these two players in good form, Orlando will be a tough matchup to any team in the league!
On the other hand, the Nets took advantage of Toronto's lack of energy in the 2nd half to have an easy win. Note that their starters besides Humphries had negative +/- numbers and it was Gaines, Morrow and Green who eventually guided the team to the win. Excluding Humphries, nobody shot near the basket and this is why they scored 34 points in the paint, while having a lot of volume on the outside with 13-24 FG from 16-23 feet and 7-17 3pts! With their lack of interior game, Howard will have a huge edge. Also the Magic shooters will be ready to roll against the poor perimeter defense of the Nets. Farmar will be also out for tonight besides Deron and so, Gaines will have to be the starting PG. Orlando has blown out the Nets twice this season and I expect them to do it once again today. Therefore, I'll take the Magic in here.
