Projected lines: 194 points | Chicago by 7 points
The Knicks are coming from an easy home win against Detroit, where they had an excellent offense, with 127.9 offensive rates, while dishing 25 assists! However, they were played against the Pistons poor defense on a back to back spot and that helped them a lot. They shot 22-22 FG at the rim, 11-11 FG in transitions and even in ISO plays, they were great with 9-15 FG! It was all too easy for them, however it was clear that the Knicks 2nd unit sucked hard with a bad start in the 2nd quarter, while Melo continued using and abusing from ISO plays! This kind of offense against an elite defense like the Bulls will surely struggle!
Even though the Bulls have surely an elite defense, they are coming from a game where they were completely outworked and outmuscled by Philadelphia! So, we can expect the Bulls to bounce back defensively today and to make a bigger effort in grabbing rebounds. It was clear that the Bulls players weren't happy after yesterday's game: Derrick Rose: ”We played a messed-up game.” Added Joakim Noah: ”We were a step slow tonight. [It's] disappointing. It was a big game. I wish we could have it back.”
With the Knicks frontcourt having problems in being efficient, their backcourt will have pressure to not commit turnovers and that has been one of their biggest problems. This may be a bad spot for the Bulls, as they are playing their 4th game in 5 days, however thanks to their blowout loss last night, Rose played just 31min, Boozer 27min and Noah 27min! I expect Chicago to have a clear edge in terms of boards and on the backcourt with Rose tearing apart the Knicks poor backcourt. Therefore, I will be taking Chicago tonight. On the other side, considering I expect the Bulls to have a good offensive night with Rose having a clear edge over the Knicks backcourt, I came up with a totals projection of 194 points, high enough for me to take the over in here as well.
