WNBA Premium Play 08/02: Los Angeles Sparks @ Tulsa Shock

WNBA - 601 LA Sparks @ 602 Tulsa Shock

Projected Line: 168 points | LA Sparks by 6 Points

***TOP PLAY***

The two games already played between these two teams had a pace factor of 72.1 and 76.1. The Sparks are coming from two subpar offensive games before the All Star break, where they scored 65 and 66 points. Of course these two games were against Seattle, a team that is the "Anti-Sparks": dead last in pace & dead last in fast break points per game and so, the Sparks had to play on half court, when they are deadly on transitions by being #1 in the league with 14.9 fast break points per game. Now against Tulsa, the story will be different, as the Shock are dead last in fast break points allowed with 13.8 ppg allowed, they are also turnover prone (#8 in the league) and they are also the worst defensive rebounding team in the league by allowing an offensive rebound rate to their opponents of 31.8%! This is the perfect bounce back scenario for the Sparks and so, I expect them to have a big offensive game in here.

On the other side, Tulsa is also playing much better on offense lately thanks to a good frontcourt offense with Glory Johnson and Liz Cambage scoring a lot of easy points down low. This will be a very tough matchup for the Sparks' defense that is the second worst paint defense in the league by allowing 36.7 ppg! Therefore, I expect both teams to have good offensive outcomes tonight and so, I'll be taking the Over in here in a Double Dime Play! I also believe that this spread of 9 points favoring LA is too much. LA won at Tulsa earlier in the season by 94-78, but the Shock were playing much worse back then in comparison to their current level. Liz Cambage was in the bench at the time, while she is now super motivated and on the starting lineup, forming a deadly frontcourt duo with Glory Johnson. Therefore, I'll be taking the Shock tonight as well on a Single Dime Play.

WNBA Free Premium Play 07/20: Los Angeles Sparks @ Seattle Storm

WNBA - 655 Los Angeles Sparks @ 656 Seattle Storm

Projected Line: 154 points

The first thing that comes to my mind about this game is that this isn't a good physical spot for the Sparks. They had back to back games at home against Atlanta and Phoenix, while they will play tonight at Seattle on their third game in four nights! The Sparks surprisingly lost at home against Phoenix, so they won't come relaxed for tonight's game. They will come fired up and completely focused for this game.

Seattle's defense isn't that amazing elite defense that it was in the previous seasons and they allowed Tulsa to shoot 57.4% FG on their last game. The Storm are #9 in the league on defensive rating with 103.2 and the main reason for these defensive problems are related with their lack of inside presence, as in order to defend their opponents down low, they need to foul and this is why they are the team in the league that allows more FT attempts to their opponents with an incredible 32% FT rate! This is especially worrying against the LA Sparks, whose offense is #2 in the league on this department.

So, the question in here will be Seattle's offense. The Storm will be looking for a bounce back after a pathetic 59 points scored against Tulsa on their last game and so, we can expect Seattle to be aggressive tonight and try to get more FT attempts than usual against the tired Sparks, who are on a tough spot tonight. Therefore, I believe this game will actually be a relatively high scoring game and so, I'll be taking the Over in here.

WNBA Premium Play 07/18: Phoenix Mercury @ Los Angeles Sparks

WNBA - 653 Phoenix Mercury @ 654 Los Angeles Sparks

Projected Line: 178 points

***DOUBLE DIME PLAY***

This is a rematch from last Sunday's game, where the Mercury lost at home against the Sparks. That game ended with 164 points scored, with the first quarter being by far the quarter with less points scored: 33 points + 47 points + 47 points + 37 points! The explanation in here for such a low scoring first quarter is quite easy to understand: Phoenix's leading scorer Diana Taurasi picked her second foul early in the game (6min to go in the 1Q) and she had to be benched. Phoenix had 7 points in four minutes, but then they scored just 6 points in the final six minutes of the quarter with Taurasi in the bench!

The Sparks played yesterday against Atlanta and they struggled on rebounding by allowing the Dream to grab 17 offensive boards, something that destroyed the Sparks' normally good offensive flow. The Sparks scored just 9 fast break points in the game, mostly because they couldn't grab defensive rebounds to get out in transition. Now against Phoenix, this won't be an issue, as the Mercury is dead last in the league on offensive rebound rate with 25.4%! Phoenix will continue not having Brittney Griner for tonight and without her, the Mercury's interior defense is non-existent and they have allowed 44 and 46 points in the paint on their last two games! With the Sparks having tired legs on the second night of a back to back, I expect Phoenix to push the pace tonight and with Taurasi avoiding fouls this time, Phoenix will score a lot more points tonight than they did last Sunday. Therefore, I believe this game will be a super high scoring game and so, I'll be taking the Over in here on a Double Dime Play!

WNBA Premium Play 07/17: Atlanta Dream @ Los Angeles Sparks

WNBA - 603 Atlanta Dream @ 604 Los Angeles Sparks

Projected Line: LA Sparks by 14 Points

Atlanta played at Seattle without three of their key players and they were able to hang around until halftime. But then, of course, with their coach using basically only six players on the rotation, they had no legs during the second half.

"I thought for the personnel we have on the floor right now, we really generated a lot of energy." said Atlanta Coach Fred Williams. "But in the fourth quarter, we ran out of gas. We had some open shots but didn't put those down."

The Dream were missing Angel McCoughtry with a strained achilles, Sancho Lyttle and Tiffany Hayes. This is worrying for the Dream because they had 7 days off before their game at Seattle, but now the shorthanded Dream will be on a much tougher spot. Besides that, the game against the Storm was played at a really slow pace (70.0) and if they were tired with 7 days of rest and playing at a really slow pace, now imagine how tired they will quickly become on a fast paced game against the Sparks?

Atlanta's defense has been struggling on transition plays and if that wasn't exposed by the slow Storm (who scored just 4 fast break points), Minnesota took advantage of that with 23 fast break points, San Antonio 19 fast break points and Washington 25 fast break points! The Sparks are pure machines on transitions with 16.1 fast break points per game (#1 in the league) and they will pound Atlanta tonight. LA has been crushing everybody at home with an average score of 89.3-66.5 and they will face Atlanta on their worst moment of the season, shorthanded and with their best player banged up. Atlanta will only have Erika de Souza as a big offensive threat today, but with no help on the perimeter, she will also struggle. Therefore, I expect an easy blowout win for the Sparks tonight and so, I'll be taking them in here.

WNBA Premium Play 07/14: Los Angeles Sparks @ Phoenix Mercury

WNBA - 603 Los Angeles Sparks @ 604 Phoenix Mercury

Projected Line: LA Sparks by 8 points

There is a lot of rivalry between these two teams, so every time one of the teams has a chance of crush the other, they don't waste the opportunity. The LA Sparks had a mental block on road games this season, but they crushed Tulsa on the road on their last game to crush that mental block. The Sparks lost at Phoenix early on the season by 81-97, so this is a big revenge game for them. They will face Phoenix at the right time, as their center Brittney Griner won't play tonight and she is the key for the team's defensive scheme that is already quite poor even with her on the field. Phoenix has the second worst defense in the league with a defensive rate of 107.6 and that was quite visible on their last game when San Antonio went to Phoenix and scored 88 points. The Silver Stars have no inside presence, but they were still able to score 44 points in the paint against the Mercury! Therefore, I expect the Sparks to take advantage of their edge down low with Candace Parker and Nneka Ogwumike to dominate tonight's game, picking up a comfortable win for them in here.

WNBA Premium Play 06/15: San Antonio Silver Stars @ Los Angeles Sparks

WNBA - 651 San Antonio Silver Stars @ 652 Los Angeles Sparks

Projected Line: LA Sparks by 6 points

Los Angeles is currently playing without two banged up guards, who are questionable for tonight: Alana Beard and Lindsey Harding. This is a back to back game for them tonight, as they faced Phoenix last night, on a super paced game! The Sparks have a lot of talent, but no offensive flow, with 26, 18, 15 and 11 assists on their last four games! They are very inconsistent and even though they had a huge game against Seattle, where they scored 102 points, their last three games were very poor offensively for them. LA is good in scoring on transition, but the Silver Stars don't commit a lot of turnovers and they have a good ball movement, so they won't give a lot of transition chances to the Sparks.

San Antonio has some issues with rebounding due to being undersized, but they are being severely underrated in here. They defeated the Sparks, they defeated Chicago and then, on a revenge game for the Sky, they lost at Chicago by just 70-72! Finally, on their last game at Minnesota, their third game in five days, they were competitive until they had fresh legs, with 35-36 at halftime. I believe the Silver Stars have enough talent to keep this game close tonight, especially with the Sparks having two banged up guards and being on a back to back spot. Therefore, I'll be taking San Antonio in here.
